New E85 Calculator for iOS

iTunes Link

I am pleased to annouced the release of my E85 Calculator for iOS!

It has all the same features of android but just to recap it can:

-Tell you how many gallons of each fuel to add to obtain desired E%
-Can take into account how much fuel and E% currently in your tank
-Clears fields on selection (so you don't have to delete numbers before entering new ones)
-Saves your calculators for next time you use the app

Wouldn't mind seeing an additional calculation to get an estimate for the amount of fuel left in the tank... something that will convert a fraction into # of gallons. I realize it can be done easily by looking at the fuel gauge and calculating on your phone, but it would be nice if it was all in one place. Just my .02.

What is the E% in tank and what value should be used in that field?

.8 gal per tick mark. The gauge is amazingly accurate.

Great news, I uploaded a new version today that is compatible with iOS 6.0 will hopefully run on many more devices that previously.

E% in tank is what Ethanol percentage you currently have in your tank. Say for example you were running E30 on your last fill up, you can enter in that you have 3 gallons left of E30 so the calc will take that into consideration to obtain your desired E% (E30 or whatever you want to be your new mix)

I considered making it a percentage. Do you think that is what the majority of people would prefer?

Thanks for the awesome feedback guys. It was a huge oversight to not include previous versions of iOS and I will let you guys know as soon as apple approves my new changes.

Damn, I made the purchase before I saw your post.

Well, 99 cents of nothingness for now as I, too, won't compromise my JB for a simple calculator...

I just downloaded it and used it today when filling up. Very useful!!

I think what would be great would be an extra box for percentage of fuel left in the tank that is linked automatically to a box for volume of fuel left in the tank. E.g If your tank is 50L and you put 50%, the fuel left box will automatically read 25L and vice versa. That way people can choose if they really want to.

Also, I'm nit picking here and it really doesn't affect the functionality of the app itself, but is it possible to change "gallons" and "gas" to "volume" and "fuel". Some of us use "litres" and "petrol" so I guess using volume and "fuel" will encompass everyone who uses the app regardless of where they live. Just a suggestion.

I changed the verbage of the app to say "Gas Needed" and "E85 Needed". I submitted the change so that min OS version will be 6.0 so that more people can use the app. Is there a technical difference between gas a petrol? I will work on the percentage of fuel change. I am also working on possibly adding octane to the calc. I just didn't want too many fields so that the keyboard doesn't cover anything so that you don't have to close it to use the calc.

Thanks!

"Gas" or "gasoline" that you guys use in the US and "petrol" that we use in other parts of the world are the same thing however in Australia "gas" refers to natural gas or LPG. To be honest, it doesn't make any difference what wording is used as the functionality remains the same and I'm sure anyone with more than 3 brain cells can figure out that the app's not telling you to put natural gas in your fuel tank. I just thought that by using the word fuel instead of gas would make the app more visually appealing to those of us living outside of the US of A =P

Feel free to ignore me if you wish, just one man's opinion

Keep up the great work!

Thanks man! I chose to not use the word fuel because E85 is also a fuel. I suppose though if one said Fuel and the other E85 that wouldn't be confusing, although the app also works with other Ethanol fuels that aren't 85 so idk lol! I did take all references to gallons out of the app though and will update when apple approves the new version with lower os requirements and such.

I should have time this weekend to get the other changes people requested submitted as well.

Ahhhh true I didn't think of that haha. In Australia we do have E85 fuel as well as EFlex fuel which is supposed to be E60 I think. I guess "Pump Fuel" and maybe "E-Fuel" or "EtOH Fuel" could be used but that could get confusing. To be honest, when trying to differentiate between petrol and E85 I find myself sometimes about to say pump gas before I catch myself . I been spending way too much time on these forums...

Weird...I just happened to stumble across this today in the app store. I've been looking for an app like this for ages, and was about to buy a mac just so that I could write one! Thank you for this!
