Convertibles... Are they actually that bloody slow?

I have a 335i 2007 M-Sport E93 and after going in my mates 335D mine feels so bloody slow!! Got the engine and everything checked out turbos are fine, i dont think its a problem per-se i think its just the convertible as heavy and as slow as F***!!

So far I've got a remap, BMC panel filter, Intake Scoops and a remap...

Handling wise I've got Eibach pro kit springs...

I've been told its about 362... not sure how true that is as it feels bloody slow!

Help peeps... If you had about £800 to spend on making it quicker what would you do?

Can anyone suggest a good place to remap with access to a Dyno?

I had an e93 335i as my second 335. I sold it within 4 weeks as for some reason it just wasnt as fast as my previous 335i with the same mods ie. Jb4+dci.

I think it is just the weight.

I think you're right! The thing is I got it for cheap for a car with 59k and full bmw service history along with Sat Nav and Msport...Black on Black... RAC checked too...

Might have to look into selling it... What do you think i'll get because i cant find anything on Autotrader with the same specs...

Its got 69k now...

The convertible weighs an extra 250kg, that's bound to make a difference to the performance.

It's not that slow though with a remap. 350 should make it about the same power to weight as the coupe. I thought the vert handled quite well too for its weight. Very low centre of gravity.

See the thing is I'll have to spend double or triple the money to get it as quick as the M3 / faster than the coupe. Annoying!

With that setup it should have been pretty fast.. Most likely it just needed some walnut blasting to clean up those intake valves from all that carbon build up.

The M3 vert is slow too. A JB4 should put you near the same pace as the M3 vert.

Mod for mod it'll never be as fast as the coupé because it weighs more. Get a coupé if you want a faster car, better still get a 135i as it is even lighter.

Downpipes, intercooler and jb4 £1200 altogether. You bound to smile even with heavy car?

Also, your comparing to a 335D! Which has do much more torque and your car is heavier...really not a fair comparison.

Surely its the fact of him having the diesel and you having the petrol?! Have you seen the torque difference?!

My 325d has the same torque as your 335i (400nm) where as the 335d has 580nm. Thats why it feels fast, it has more "punch"

My real aim is to be able to beat a Z3M roadster and that's miles lighter than my car and has by standard i think 321/325 bhp?

In reality, you won't notice even 10% increase in performance. It's the weight and the fact the Diesel is much torquier, its real world quicker.

A diesel is the right engine for a vert, the reasons are obvious.

Get DP's, Fmic and meth.

I made 512lb/ft of torque with this setup - I.e. About the same as a stage 1 335d!

What a stupid statement

..here we go again, my E93 M3 DCT was right on par with my mates E92 M3.

Have you owned an E93 M3 or have you just driven one ?

also all this talk of modded 335i's beating a stock M3 is not impressive at all
