Air Con radiator

Hi all,

Took my car to get a aircon re-gas today and it pretty much leaked straight out, I believe it's the condenser/radiator that sits at the very front of the car?]

Can someone confirm this is indeed the condenser (2007 335i E92) and if so can they be fixed with a sealent like a normal Rad or do I need a new part?

Thanks

Phil

Garage List
Probably been punctured by a stone. Doubt you could use a rad sealer as the system's filled with gas, not liquid coolant.

Yep see a fair few condensers go AWOL at work, normal cause as stated above are things like stone debris damage. This isn't a rad weld type job I'm afraid, ideally it's new new or new.

Condensers can be purchased from Euro's / GSF, GSF's stuff normally better quality TBH any decent garage can sort this out.

had a closer look and appears a stone has smashed a big hole in it, found the part online for about £90 so should not be too expensive to get fitted by a mechanic friend.

Cheers all

You will need a new part. Don't use any sort of sealant in the system, it will damage other parts like the expansion valve, or even the compressor. All of those are more expensive than the condenser. Not sure if you could use an external radiator sealant as the system operates under very high pressure - the high side can go over 250 psi. Don't know what would hold that kind of pressure.

I replaced the one in my E92 335 last year because the aftermarket oil cooler bracket punctured it. Not a very expensive part, at least here in the states. But I can't imagine it would be that much more in the UK. Relatively easy to replace.
