VANOS recall letter...anyone get these?

Well, after the dealership telling me my car was not part of this recall- I get this wonderful letter in the mail...

How can I tell for sure?

I would think they would not have sent me such a surefire recall letter if I wasn't in that recall based on my VIN, no?

Yep, got mine today. I'm an October 2010 build. Interesting they sent out with not enough parts to actually do the recall. Oh well....

DK - Open up your driver's door and look at the stickers around the frame. The black one on the bottom should have your build date... I believe it says Manufacture Date and it will read 10/11 (mine) or for you, 8/11.

You can go to bmwvin dot com and register for free. There it will tell you everything about your car...

Just look at the sticker on your driver side door frame (mm/yy)

Go here. VIN DECODER -it will tell you everything about your car. Yours was built July 27th, 2011.

Just got my letter in the mail 5 minutes ago. Yahoo! So now I can drive like a maniac. VANOS failure, engine go boom, free engine from BMW?

Just occurred to me, we probably have GM to thank for pushing BMW to produce this recall...
