E92 Roof Box
After a little help from anyone who has fitted roof bars and a box to a 3 series coupe if possible!
I've been looking at one similar to this in Halfords (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165500) - for the price etc. it seems fine and it will only be used 2 - 3 times a year at the most so not bothered about paying twice as much for Thule. The issue is I have been told by halfords that I need a clip that secures the roof bar under the doors. You can see what I mean in this picture: ![]() And obviously in a coupe I have no way of doing this to the rear bars. Does anyone know if this is required? I have the four gutter attachments on the roof and always assumed that was enough. Thanks

I got roof bars from ECP (with discount they were about £49) and they fit a treat.

I wouldn't trust what they tell you at Halfrauds. As you say what happens with the rear bar? Are you expected to put the rear windows through?
I kept an eye out for a 2nd hand set of OEM BMW or Thule bars/feet and was lucky enough to get the latter relatively cheaply. I can confirm that neither of the above have any hook under system and only use the threaded nut (welded to the roof). |
