e85 and codes
Thre 3 gallons of e85 in the car last night and set the jb4 to map 5. I was able to get some decent pulls and felt the car pulling harder. Then I got my first codes this morning on the drive in.
First, the car hit around 17PSI on the freeway in 4th (around 4500-5000rpm) and then immediately cut to 14 and the half engine light came on. I pulled over and read the codes, but of course read them wrong... 0-3-0-F... I'm assuming it sat at one of these for a second and should be 300F or 30FF. The car was running fine so I cleared it, got back in map 5 and on the road. About 10 minutes later I was on the side road in third (around 3000rpm) and was around 15-16PSI, and it again cut, this time the "service engine soon" light lit up for a second then went off. I checked the codes when i got to work (about a half mile) 0-2-A-F... again i read it wrong. It must be 2AAF or 2AFF. Any thoughts? Should I be worried? My thought was get back out at lunch and see if I can recreate this, in map 5. Prior to this I was running map 1 with 91-93 octane with no issues.

YOU have a 07 335i your hpfp does not like it probably because your low pressure fuel pump is weak and can't supply required pressure . I had this problem before I upgraded my fuel pump bucket and added the Steve's wabro 255 e85 inline pump. Also you put in three gallons of e85 but how much gas was in your tank? if you has 3/4 tank 3 gallons should not be an issue but if you had 1/4 or less the concentration of e85 is much higher than what your pumps can handle.

OK, I'm about 90% certain I'm hitting the overboost in map 5. Not sure how or why this is happening, but each time I ran the car at lunch, it was solid til about 4k rpm, and was around 17PSI and climbing, then it cuts off and switches to map 4. This is the blurb from the other forum.
The first is the over-boost safety. If boost exceeds the value you've set under user adjustment the SES light will flash once and the JB4 will switch itself to map 4 until you restart the car. The default setting is 18psi. Common causes for this are setting the value too low for the map/intended usage, improperly configured or defective wastegates, or JB4 setting problems. I'm not sure how to change the level to higher than 18, nor am I sure I want to do this, but I'm assuming that's what I'm hitting. Any thoughts? Do I need a backend flash? I put 3 gallons of E85 into a 3/4 full tank of 93 octane, then topped it off with more 93 octane...

Per Jon at BMS I'm going to run some logs tonight. I installed the USB and will be borrowing a friend's laptop - it's unfortunate the software doesn't run on my Microsoft Surface 2. Anyhow, results will follow. As mentioned, I topped off the car with 93 octane after adding 3 gallons of e85, so I wasn't running something crazy >50%...

I looked at the charge pipe Wednesday when I installed my usb and everything looked good. Not only was that a thought of mine, but I wouldn't mind a shiny CP with a BOV...

Update: In case anyone else has this issue and doesn't datalog initially, here's where I am. I drove home Wednesday easy, installed my usb but didn't get to log and also inspected my charge pipe. Drove in yesterday in hopes to datalog but it didn't happen. Throughout the day, i gave it 90-95% throttle in 3rd and 4th a few times, and it would go to 15PSI and stay there with no issues. My cousing came over with his cpu, which is old and is running 32bit windows so datalogging won't work on that EITHER. I went WOT yesterday three times, in 2nd and 4th gears, and each time hit just under 17 PSI and stuck there. I went all the way to redline in second. Seems to be running fine now. I'm still going to log it. Weather has been nice so I've driven everyday this week. No other issues besides the morning after putting e85 in it.
So currently I'm getting 17 PSI at WOT and it's pullin pretty good. I think 80-120 today took about 3 or 4 seconds in fourth. Logs and more info soon. No codes, no nothin.

Went out for logs on lunch, but it was raining. Two went ok, thought there was wheel spin, the third I got kicked to map4 and the 2AAF code "fuel pump, plausibility". I've got a killer 3rd party warranty so if that needs replaced I'll remove the jb4 and go do that, if it's something else I'm interested as well. I sent the logs to Jon at BMS but here it is as well...

Nope. As instructed I'm going to try setting my open loop to 80 and relogging. It'd be great if I can run e85 on a regular basis. Not only is it faster e85 is about 10-20% less than 93 octane...

The issue doesn't seem to be ignition, it seems to be fuel related. Hopefully the Open Loop increase (I've done this, just need to log) will fix it. The e85 makes this car nuts. I need to start thinking suspension and more rubber.

Ok, the open loop increase has been deemed good. No issues and plenty of pull. Now the brakes need done, oil needs changed, and I need to get wheels and an fmic LOL. Moar MODZ.

I've been kicked back to map 4 twice since I put the open loop to 80. Always with one SES light. Code was 2AAF the first time, the most recent being this morning and I haven't checked it yet. Problem is it doesn't happen all the time. This time it was right after fill up. I'm trying to drive all the gas out of the car before filling but it just isn't always possible (nor a reasonable expectation). I'm always putting 3gal e85 in then filling up with 93. Maybe it's just too much for my car. I've asked BMS for help but they need a log and since it doesn't happen all the time and I'm not logging all the time I don't have one for them.
Any thoughts would be great. I have no problem running a little less e.
