335d Gearbox Service

I have decided to keep my 335d now and as it has been off the road since January I would like to do some general servicing on it.

Previously I understood that the gearbox in mine was a sealed for life unit, however the opinion on this seems to have changed.

Mine is a 2006 '56' plate and on 98k miles.

Could someone advise if I am likely yo have a plastic or metal sump and where the best place to get a comprehensive service kit from?

I have access to a ramp so guessing that with that should be easy enough to DIY.

you will most likely have the plastic sump kit

you can buy the genuine zf kit - this is a good price -
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=997354

however when I changed mine i went through incar motorfactors with teh Meyle kit - had no issues with it. Check on realoem to see which gearbox code you have or give the guys a ring and they will be able to tell you the suitable kit for your car

http://www.incarmotorfactors.co.uk/e...8-transmission

word of advice for the sake of £20 replace the mecatronics sleave as the sump has to be dropped for it to be replaced.

changing the fluid over is quite easy however there is a set re fil procedure which you will need BMW DIS software to do as the oil has to be at a certain temperature/reset gearbox adapataions through the software

iirc not all the fluid comes out approx 1.5 litres remains in the torque convertor but personally I ddi notice an improvement at 110k miles

So the car would need plugging into a BMW program to complete the change?

Also is the mechatronics sleeve included in the service kit?

As for the resetting and temps, haven't done it yet but I have ISTA D, NCS, and INPA so should be covered there
