Dash cam fuse hardwire for keyfob recording start
Dash cams auto start/stop when power is detected so it's usually plugged into a cigarette lighter or hardwired into fusebox for constant power. However, I'm trying to figure out a fuse which comes on when I lock or unlock my car with my keyfob so that I can turn on the dash cam remotely at a distance. I can see this being useful for when you see someone messing with your car and you want to capture it (very 007 or walter white I know).
So I'm basically looking for a fuse I can tap into which comes on when lock/unlock and also stays on when I drive. I know I can use the angel eyes or taillights but don't want to mess with those. Does the radio work for this? The key is not required for the radio to turn on. Is it possible to tap into two fuses? If so, I'd like to tap into interior lights for keyfob recording start and cigarette lighter for when the car is on since interior lights don't stay on when driving. Anybody have an idea of which fuses I should tap for this feature? |

I have mine wired to a fuse that is hot when the car is "awake" but shuts off after a set time (adjustable via coding, default is 30 mins). A good one for this is the CD changer fuse. Not sure the number off hand though.

So when the car is unlocked/locked with the keyfob, the car is considered "awake" correct? Do you have this feature where it starts up when you lock/unlock then?

When you do anything with the car it "wakes up". Like open a door, the trunk, lock or unlock it.
So yes, if you tap that fuse (or any on that bus) you can activate the camera by locking or unlocking the car.

What dash cam do you have? I know some cams can affect gps from phones, maybe keyfob remote as well. |

Why would you want to unlock your car if someone is messing with you car? LOL
Or am I missing something here.. I wired my dashcam to fuse 73, I believe that's for the door lock/unlock, and it's always on. My dashcam has parking mode though, so it only records when it detects motion or shock. |
