How many miles,years do you or did you plan to drive your 335? I would like 130,000 miles out of mine. I usually drive my cars to about 120k. I'm at 51k now.

Kept my E46 for 12 years and 105k (5 years in the middle I had a company car and put less than 5k/year on mine), hoping to keep the d for at least 8-10 if not more. 2 years in I've added 25k for a total of 35k, so this implies that at year 10 I might hit 135k.

Having owned and driven my last diesel ('86 Jetta diesel) for 20 years and 280k miles, I assumed I could get the same out of the 335d. Of course the Jetta was a much simpler vehicle that I could do much of my own work on. Now having invested a lot in handling bits, the long-term potential hassles and expense put me in a quandary. Twenty years would have been about when they will be wrenching the comfort access fob out of my bony fingers for good, but now it seems I may outlast the car. What to do?!

I'm glad to see people are in it for the long haul, I still can't think of a car I would want to replace mine with anytime soon, in the next 5-10 years who knows where technology will take the modern engine.

Bought it planning for the long haul, but many trips to the dealer for SCR issues gave me a bad taste.

It sits at 42k now and is under warranty until next May. Lately I have been battling between removing the cancerous DPF/SCR/EGR nonsense and trying to make it last, or trading it for a 535. Within the last week I ordered and installed a meth injection kit, so I guess I know which way I'm leaning.

My extended stay due to CBU yielded an extended warranty through 100k. So, I definitely plan to keep it that long. I have two other vehicles that I have had for 11 yrs and 8 yrs. I don't see this one going away any time soon.

Besides, my 9 yo daughter has laid claim to it. My 12 yo son currently claims the Ram 3500. Time will tell.....

42k here pipe is being done for me SCR/EGR/DPF your days are numbered with me my tuner friend will do the deletes for the above BASTARDS including the UREA tank, plan to stay with it till it dies!! Also, Im in the midst of either buying the X5d M or go with the ALPINA XD3 who knows we'll see to that by the end of the year

I purchased the diesel thinking it will last me a long time, at least 300k miles. But after going to the dealer to get things fixed, I am now planning to keep it until my CPO warranty runs out at 100k miles or 08/2015.

probably as long as it keeps me moving from point a to point b. I absolutely love this car minus its faults. Once I hit 100k, I hope to be able to remove all of the nonsense that's causing the faults in the first place.

Till it no longer puts a smile on my face.

I got a smile yesterday. At a light, behind a newer Mustang V8. Light turns green. Mustang revved up and dumped the clutch, so what the heck, I gave chase. Stayed glued to the rear bumper (no spot to pass) to about 65mph, then the tool decided to brake check me. Talk about a wake up call!

Perhaps I should not have gave chase to this tool, but if you're going to rev the engine and jackrabbit start, don't get all prissy when another decides to lay chase right?

The plan is to keep her as long she is in good shape. CBU is an issue but can be considered as long term maintenance. The longest I kept a car was a Golf TDI for 160k kms. I hope to keep this longer than 160k kms if she holds

Drives great. Pulls like a freight train. Looks good and is comfortable to drive. What am I missing.

My commute is quite short so "how many miles" isn't my measuring stick. I have kept my truck for 11 years and it seems pretty durable and has 95,XXX miles. The D has 32,000 miles on it. It will take a very long time to reach 100k miles. I drive the truck almost 100% right now to not CBU engine until "the modification" happens. I did use the D alot this last winter as the truck's heater has issues. I'm hoping it is only a blocked heater core.

I will keep the D until in becomes a pain in the a$$ to keep up. I normally keep a vehicle 10 years but that may change as college tuition is on my horizon

hahahaahahaha! i'm with you on that! I have 7 year 100k warranty. I am at 4 years and 54k. Got another year on the tire and wheel insurance so time will tell. I really enjoy the 335d. one of the best/favorite cars to drive ever.

M2 sounds fun though. I want an M car.

I prefer the d over M3 sedan, especially with a JBD, M3's are fun at 15 mpg...
