ETS BMW 135i and 335i Direct Fit Intercooler
Hi Chaps
Anyone installed one of these. My understanding is the stock 09 335 does not have an intercooler?? would it be difficult to add one?? |

Even the N55's have an air to air intercooler.
Suggest you read up on how your engine works, 2007 Engine Tech: How the N54 works (must read!!!), is a great sticky and can be found here http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38856 FYI the intercooler would look similar to this picture taken from the above thread

The best way to tell whether a car is a 335 or not by just looking at the front is to look for the intercooler.

If your concerned about warranty (i.e returning to stock) then get one that uses the stock connectors and requires little trimming. Back when I upgraded mine I went with the VK Motorworks one for those reasons (but they are now no longer in business).

When I did my research I settled on the helix FMIC.. no regrets there
I'm not so convinced that the "brand" of FMIC matters that much performance wise.. "better" brands are easier to fit/install so, if you want to be a cheapass, get a bigtom, if you want something more expensive get a helix (all imo), I don't think there will be any perceptible end point difference from your butt dyno |

I installed an ETS IC on my 135 and it's F#%* ING amazing. Great product and IAT's dropped dramatically. I posted a review on 1 Addicts. Will attach the link shortly.

I have been reading up and I think I will go for the helix fmic. Purifyer ( I think it was you) did you need a special pipe? Reading the helix post they talk about post 4/09 you need a special pipe. Mine is a bit tricky as it is an 09 and one of the first with the 7 speed box and I am not sure if I need the pipe or not. |
