BMW E90 video integration with iPhone

Video Integration into my 2007 BMW E90 (3 Series).

The car is a 2007 CCC iDrive E90 (335i Sedan).

Gadgets:
- NV_BMW356 video module
- a "CAN2ACC" module that provides switched ACC power, but only when other accessories are on (determined by CAN signaling)
- Add-A-Circuit (fuse box to power adapter)
- a spec.dock iPod dock
- a iPhone composite out video cable (bought the expensive Apple one, if you go non-apple you need another jailbreak hack)
- a black iPhone insert (iHome)
- a jailbroken iPhone (yes, I still sport a 3GS)

iPhone software (after jailbreak):
- Display Out
- Activator (for safer driving):
* hold home for Display Out toggle
* up+down for play/pause
* down/up for fwd
* hold down for Pandora
* Landscape Lock Rotation (triggered via double-toggle of vibrate button, via Activator).
* Brightness Activator (dims when plugging in, and back up when unplugging). NOTE: I forgot power wasn't fully on in the car, only acc, that's why it didn't dim in the video.
- Popup Blocker (so I never see annoying alerts about "interference" ... ever notice they still come up even when you are already in airplane mode?)

NOTE:
I say in the video that it took me 12 hours. I think that's a stretch, but it was a long time. I did a lot of investigation to figure out how to do it, I pulled things apart that I didn't need to, and it all happened over several sessions ... and might have been slowed a bit by beer.

Also, I completely gloss over the connectors and soldering. Mostly I bought these connectors from RadioShaft, and soldered them to wires that come with the kit, or my own wires. Everything I did is totally reversible (including tapping into the CAN lines).

I could do it again in about two hours. Steps, approx:
1) take out monitor
2) take out under glove-box panel, glove box, and world's stupidest cupholders
3) fish LVDS cable toward cupholders
4) intercept can lines (I did it without cutting and soldering, that's another explanation) and fish toward same area
5) Use Add-A-Circuit, to power CAN2ACC/C2A .. connect Can LInes.
6) Jam unit into gap to the left of left cupholder.
7) Connect wires ... test ... etc
8) Reassemble.

Any questions or further pictures needed, I'm glad to answer. I was working so hard to get it done, I didn't take pictures while I did it.

See some explanation in the video below:

And now I feel lame because I've been reading of people retrofitting CIC and 6NR into a car with CCC. Not sure how much that costs (I'm sure it's more than mine) ... so I feel like my mod is poor-man's BMW Apps.
