Can E92 Headlights be configured to be on like a Volvo/Saab?
Hi All
My new E92 arrives in a few weeks time and wondered if the cars headlights can be enabled to be on dipped beam all the time when you are driving with the new E92 thus avoiding having to remember to physically switch the lights on and off all the time? Just like Volvo or Saab. My original 318CI was adjusted by the dealer to provide this option. Other options were available as well, like having the windows automaticlly close when locking the car with the key remote. I found that having the headlights come on low beam as soon as you started the car to be a very useful safety feature and it stopped numerous people from changing lanes and going into the side of me! It also meant that you did not have to turn the headlight switch on and off all the time. Apparently there is a dealer PDI list for "Setting Options" that can be completed prior to PDI by the customer? Does anyone have an example of these "Setting Options"?? Many thanks; LRS |

I can speak for the E93 cab that settings can be done by the user rather than the dealer, daytime running lights set as standard for the cab but can be switched off. You can see a manual for the E92 if you do some form of search.

I think this is probably also the case for non i-drive cars, but am not 100% sure. |

Yes, for sure, the DRL's can be configured by the driver on non-idrive cars. You basically use the up/down slider on the indicator stock and the on-board computer button to select. The DRL's are actually a smidgeon brighter than the normal side lights. I have mine on at the moment, and I'm told the car looks quite sinister with the corona rings lit up

Also LRS, my windows automatically close if you hold down the lock button on the remote. They also automatically open if you hold the unlock button on the remote. If you double-click the unlock button on the remote, on the E92 the windows go about 3/4 of the way down (supposedly a useful feature when you are squeezing past the side window in a tight parking *******. I think this is all standard with the E92 and you don't need anything configured.

For E90/E91 a £95 option which I believe you can retro fit was auto lights and wipers so head lights can be on only when you need them, has a manual override and I think in extended settings for my non-i-drive E91 there is a day light running setting but not 100% sure.

e90 has a "main lights always on" feature (just leave the lights "on" to the top setting all the time!); but it doesn't work with the side lights.
Must say that the few e92s I have seen with the 'mysterons' side-lights on do look wicked - and a lot, LOT brighter than other/older BMWs with the angel eyes The 'press the lock button continuously to close all open windows(incl. sunroof) and 'press the unlock button continuously to open all windows' has been a standard feature on Bimmers for a while (my 2001 e39 530dSE has it). |

So if you have xenons, does using DRL's result in the angel eyes being lit all the time?

On the Z4, the "hold lock button to close windows" didn't actually work... something to do with it not having an anti-trap sensor I think...??

And all of the remote, up/down functions only worked if you had a post April 2004 build date. Mine was May!

Weird! Mine was an Aug 2004 build but it only did remote opening of the roof/windows but definitely not remote closing.
