Quaife lsd
Chaps I am quickly adding to the list of mods the longer I am here. The little woman aint gonna be happy!!!
Next I would like to add a Quaife LSD (from my reading seems to be the best) the problem is the good folk at BMW have decided to weld the stocker in and to cut it off scares me a lot. I know a few here have done it, so any advice? I am near artarmon and will ring around tomorrow to see if there is someone who has done this before |

Gonna be expensive if you've got a welded diff, 3-4k...
Where are you going to source the LSD from? Are you going to purchase a 'built' unit and do a core swap? Or just the LSD? You can call Andrew at ALS Performance in Rydalmere on 9680 0773 for any installation related queries. The other popular brand of LSD is the Wavetrac, this has a few on paper advantages over the Quaife, however if you've done your research and prefer the Quaife, many people have been happy with that as well. |

Best mod u can do, I love mine.
Speak with Andrew at southern bm about the quaife and have Andrew at ALS do the install. Win win on both accounts.

Another vote from me as far as best mod goes! One option is to buy an oem diff and have the internals swapped out, thus making it a bolt out/in modification (albeit expensive)

![]() I was planning to just buy the Quaife LSD and find someone (preferably around Artarmon) to install it. BUT then i realise i have a welded unit and the chap at HPA has put the fear of GOD into me as he is telling be unless you have someone who is a Quaife specialist your gonna be ![]() Any thoughts on a complete unit from the states????? As for the Wavetrac, that was the one I was originally considering, but they tell me there isn't one for the DCT transmission ![]() Sounds like I'm gonna keep the open diff and keep watching the DSC light flicker on the dash for a while. |

Firstly let me say I think Harold from HPA is an insomniac! he has been responding all hours of the day and night (thanks Harold, you've been a great help
![]() Well thats the only good news i have as he has given me a figure of around 5k (plus tax) for a new diff ![]() I can't see any way to hide that from the little woman, and i can't see any way of her saying "sure do what ever you like". well not without being sarcastic. |

oh didn't realise you were DCT... that's even more expensive than the auto cars lol.
Andrew at ALS performance is pretty experienced with this stuff, so I'd definitely make the trip out to Rydalmere as opposed to trying to find someone local ![]() Try swapping out for sticky tyres? That should help a little in the meantime... oh yeh and Harold from HPA is awesome, great service and highly recommended if you need any parts that aren't available locally |
