New to forum

Hey everyone, I just bought a 2011 335Is about 6 weeks ago and I love it! I was on bimmerfest but hated it. They bashed me for every mod I talked about..

So far I have added the stage 2 afe intake and it sounds and feels amazing.

Next mod is ER charge pipe and BOV but I can't decide between HKS SSQV 4, Synapse, and Tial Q.

After that.... Dinan stage 2 or JB4 but warranty is important to me.

Downpipe is a no go for me ever.. Taking off the cat is a very bad idea and will 100% kill any warranty...

He immediately open a thread about it, I mean what do people expect? I think I saw it in that video from CNBC, each BMW car gets design three year in advance before it comes out. I'm pretty sure during that three years the BMW team performs a lot of testing and research development collects and analyze the data. Then they release the ultimate driving machine. Now some people get happy by buying a downpipe which supposedly increase hp and make the car sound great! Well if that was the case I am sure BMW team will design a downpipe just like the one others purchased on this site to increase power and other extended none sense claim that after market manufacturer makes... Really do you guys thing that those after market companies test their product as much as BMW does before they release the new version of car? No I don't think so, there is no way.. How could they.

Here is an example..

Dodge neon SRT!
Great looking little buggie!
Turbo charged engine! Yah great!
Now most of the people who got one of those little tiney death trap! Like to add tons of after market parts to make it better. One thing I have notice from those people they change the BOV, make the car sound so retarted after each shift, like this phisst obsession! Well they claim those type of BOV increase power.. Maybe, and if that was the case BMW would install such BOV on all turbo charged engine to get additional power with out modifying the engine design and other factors that would contribute into the power. Plus BMW is a classy car.. If I want my car to sound like phissst every time I get a dodge neon and I strap myself into the death trap and phisst my self off the bridge!

Here what I would do.

1. N55 motor came out this year. Wait around until most after market performance companies catch up with the technology, take out the bugs and improve at least until mid 2012.

2. Don't install any kind of piggyb back boost control system until the first oil change. That really when the engine gets into shape. 1200k mark it's just the safe mark. Specially if you are buying your car and not leasing it... Unless you got a lot of money and you can afford to buy and sale every 4 years. Because after the car Boost is increased and you drive it on those maps for few years it will eventually you will see problems. If that was the case off the factory line all forced induction motors would come out with 12-15 psi for boost. BMW would have done it with pleasure.

3. If you must install some cheap after market parts, don't blame the BMW or the motor.. Again they did their study for 3 years.. They know what they are doing. You and others are making changes to the design.

4. Be happy for what you got. You are driving a state of art ultimate driving machine and not a dodge neon or Honda civic or Infiniti g35,37.

5. Stop complaining the BMW has problems after you and others slapped a cheap 400,1000 dollar piggy back or dp or exhaust system on the car and now the car rattles and you came up with a genius idea by shoving Terry Towell in the mid section! Referring to another member who was having issue with his after market exhaust system started to rattle....

Bottom line is, no other car company can make a car that drives like a BMW.. If I was driving a Honda civic, accord, I would understand all of these none sense thread about how bad the engine is or how bad the new BMW design is and how good some other Japanese car companies are.. Well if you are not happy buy a Infiniti G37 and I grantee you miss BMW so fast!! Even though they claim Infiniti pricing is better but I strongly believe it so worth every penny that you pay for BMW.

So If I was Into modding my car, I would just come here and show how well the car did in the track and how fast I can get to work with my increased boost. Other than that I take all responsibility About my car and i won't talk about it if it smell like gas while i am standing at traffic light.

Another thing, most after market performance companies work on getting the part work with the car. They don't have the time and the man power to perform extensive testing. For example after market intake systems.. They might perform two to three dyno test that sometimes show some weird numbers that makes you feel that the dyno was rigged etc... They don't take the car on the road or track or in extreme weather condition and read the data off the car... This is why BMW does not install a intake system like injen.. Because they test the factory intake under very harsh climate. From very cold to very hot and get a lot data from the car output. Well anyway I'm talking too much... I am going to shut the he'll up. Just one last thing, be happy for what you got... That's the key to live a happy life! Lower your expectation and a lot of things will feel better and world be a happy place.
I have to agree with a few points but also disagree. BMW isn't going to spend more money then they have to. They are afterall here for a profit. Why would they spend the extra money making the car even faster? Every car has more potential then when sold by the factory. This car actually should have a BOV, the n55 does make that swoosh noise so obviously BMW wanted to add it and realized it wasn't a bad thing, so adding an aftermarket BOV for the N54 is perfectly ok. I do agree that putting on a cheap ecu/piggyback or other cheap aftermarket parts is a horrible idea..

Why do you think I went with Afe, they are known to be the best for BMW and I spent $600 total on just an intake. If I do go with engine management, it would be Dinan, I keep my warranty and they know what they are doing. I also only have A Dinan dealer install any mod I do because they know what they are doing as well.

If you add safe mods, BOV, Intake, Engine Management w/warranty, your car can run better, sound better, and not have any future problems, but adding cheap mods, intake filer, removing cat, buying a bigger intercooler or changing cams, turbos, those are not smart and can kill the car.

I am very happy with what I have, but making a few small changes is not a big deal, I am especially happy with the look and style of my car and I wouldn't touch a thing, except maybe the reflectors which I just bought painted reflectors to make my car oem color.

Bmw has to follow regulations so obviously adding a down pipe and other parts may not smog or meet oem regulations. If they could add a high flow cat then yes. But they won't. They expect people to mod the cars.
