BMW apps, its current shortcomings and the regional discrepancy in available features
I'm sure anyone who has BMW apps in their car knows the biggest drawback of the iphone app, atleast the Canadian iTunes version, is its lack of multitasking functionality! Considering iOS has been supporting multitasking for quite some time, it's discouraging to see BMW Canada is not nimble enough to update the app on a $300 option they're offering!
As I was reading an article a couple of days ago I came across this UK iTunes app which can do most of the things that here in Canada you need to call BMW assist to be done for you except the remote air ventilation option that has to be done before leaving your vehicle at this point and is not available either way. Here's the link : http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/my-bm...387675830?mt=8 I do have a Canadian iTunes account and a US one as well but don't have a UK one! So I'm wondering has anyone ever tried to install this app through a UK account and get it to work? I'm assuming since some of these features need to be supported by the local BMW assist, the app alone might not be enough to make these functionalities available! Why BMW decides to have these kind of regional discrepancies? Or is it our Canadian unwieldy regulatory system that keeps us a step behind the same way we can't have access to the same library of movies on NETFLIX Last edited by TheOne; 07-30-2011 at 12:44 PM.. |
