How are you capping your diverter inlets?
I realize quite a few of you are running aftermarket BOV's so out of curiosity, how are you capping the diverter hoses off?
I heard that a 3/4" plug will fit, but I'll be damned its not going to slide over that plastic inlet. So, up till now Ive been running the cap off a damn quart of oil and taping the shit out of it. Every time the car gets hot the fricken thing blows off and throws an an engine light or gets gooey and throws a light. At least I HOPE its because that thing is leaking. I dont think all the tape in the world would hold that on there since its heating up until it turns to goo. Suggestions? Last edited by M3to335; 05-28-2007 at 12:21 PM.. |

lol i think your just a tad bit confused, if your trying to plug the diverter hoses than you should be sliding anything over anything, i assume your doing that DIY one since you posted this in there too, in which case your capping an inlet not an outlet, and if you've been trying to plug those hoses you probably shouldn't be doing it because well... thats just dumb
the inlet thing is 1" anyway, so yea a 3/4 inch piece isn't going to fit over it |

Tomatoe, Tom-AGHT-oe hehe.
Yeah Im pugging the two areas your supposed to plug when doing the DYI or installing any of the BOV's that are being sold right now. Regardless this is getting rediculous. I threw ANOTHER yellow engine light at EXACTLY the same spot I did yesterday and the day before. Its weird, no matter where I drive, it seems to be fine. On the way home I get within about 200yards of my house and it throws that light. Same place to a "T". Then I dont get a chance to plug in the reader because by the time I turn the car off and back on, its gone. Im "assuming" its from the plugs. The tapes all heated and gooey by the time I open the hood. HELP! So, what exactly are you using to plug it, and are you having any problems. I need to fix this ASAP. |

if you really must continue pursuing this then go get some 1 inch hosing from home depot, cap it off PROPERLY, and tie it off properly with a ring or twist tie |

Cant I just plug back in the stock diverter hose since the diverters vacuum lines are hooked together keeping it from opening anyway? Thats not exactly a clean look though. Thats why I wanted a plug like everyone else is running. Terry, the code isnt a proceed issue, its something else most likely related to this stupid inlet. |

DIY is the same as a blow off valve, what does it matter?

The thing that you cap off...doesn't blow out air, that is where your stock diverter valves dumps left over air after you hit boost...it goes back into your air intake, nothing comes out of those valves... Go to home depot, find anything that is rubber, similar in size...and get those small clamp and plug it up...regardless, those valves shouldn't make ur car throw a code...if ur running PROcede and is throwing a CEL...likely, ur leaking boost from ur BOV...if procede cannot achieve the targeted boost...it'll throw a light and put ur car in limp mode sometimes...
