Bmw Replacing N54 Injectors

BMW is replacing all my injectors next week under a not so recall and new software for the n54 engine as mine is a 2008 model
Getting a loan car as well didn't even ask, so i'm happy i don't have to worry about injector problems latter.

Hi, was there a fault that you reported to BMW that resulted in them swapping out the injectors?

No fault as you aware in the USA they have been replacing the injectors with a newly design one, as another forum member had his software updated by mistake and asked about the injectors to BMW service tech and yes from 2007 to late 2008 mine is on the list to have new injectors.
Just ring BMW to see if your model is on the list.

I have had my injectors replaced but it wasn't as easy as it was for you chappy. Could you pm me any info you have on the injector recall here in Aus.

Armed with the TSB for the injector recall in the U.S., I took the car into the dealer for a very slight stumble on cold start up in the mornings. Idle became smooth after the idle settles. Otherwise the car drove well with no rough engine or loss of power evident. The car didn't throw any codes. The service manger advised me that using the TSB that I had provided, they would not be able to get the work approved as the TSB was only applicable for use by BMWNA.

The car was at the dealer for 10 days to address the slight rough idle on cold start up. The smooth running values on cylinder #4 were lower than the other cylinders all of which were the same. That seemed to fix the problem only for a day as the rouigh idle was there the next morning. They swapped all the injectors and coil packs around. Rough idle was still there the next morning. If anything it got worse.

So after all the swapping and changing of injectors and coil packs, they removed the intake manifold to find the valves were coated with carbon and about 15mm in dia. They cleaned the valves manually and replaced all injectors. The car has clocked up 30,500km and only uses 98oct. I thought the car ran beautifully before, except for the slight rough idle of course. I can tell you the valve cleaning has really transformed the car. It runs and idles absolutely silky smooth now, just as it did when it was brand new. There is a huge improvement in cold start idle quality now.

I asked to see the costs to BMW after all the mucking around. It added up to $5,800 !!

Have I told you guys how much I love warranty...

Can i assume you rempved the V5 prior to taking it in? I just put the usb cable through the firewall and dont really want to have to take the whole thing apart to pull it back out.....

I have a pretty good relationship with my service manager and master tech, even so I take out the Procede out each time I take the car in for warranty work.

I have mentioned to them that I plan to install catless DP's and an "O2 emulator" in the near future and how that my affect my warranty. The service manager appreciated my honesty and said that he plans to honour any power train warranty claim as long as I was being honest and told him about it before hand. I also let him know that I could remove the catless DP's in case a field service engineer would require to look at the car say in the instance of turbo failure. He appreciated that even more.

I guess what I am saying is, if you haven't spoken to your service guy before hand about the Procede, I would remove it for a dealer visit just to be safe.
