Seriously since you guys have all made up your minds than an OCC is not for you I have no place here..but I appreciate the answer back..thx

tibra1 out.
On the contrary. Based on the given information I am keeping my BSH for now. It does collect oil and I am ok with the affect on crankcase pressure. I made that decision after Dzenno did his original testing back in May.

I was only pointing out to you that the affect on crankcase pressure was quantified in testing, so discussing actual design and theorectical affect on backpressure really doesn't matter at this point.

You are too funny.

I've emailed 42DraftDesigns about their OCCs and here's the response I got:

Quote:
Thank you for your email! Our catch cans (both stealth and ultimate) include the same filtration system which is a series of 4 mesh screens. The way they are designed is ¾” inlet and outlet, the inlet being the lower port on the catch can and the outlet being the upper port of the catch can. The way the system is designed gasses and oil vapors enter the can and are directed up at our filtration screens, the oil and vapors will be caught in our oil filtration screens and accumulate at the bottom of the catch can. Both versions of our can will perform the same, the ultimate catch can just has the nice CNC finished lid, the ability to rotate the input and output ports in any direction as well as the dipstick feature.

We have extensive photographs on our website to show the filtration screen and how we have our catch cans setup.

If you have any other questions please let me know.

Thanks,

-John
What I like about it is the inlet/outlet are 3/4", its thinner than the ones available today, it has inlets/outlets that can be rotated (on the ultimate) or on the stealth one they're both on the same side and it'd probably fit perfectly fine in the back where Big Tom runs his...gases travel UP from the bottom inlet to the top outlet through a series of mesh screens...thinking of trying out the "stealth" one, half the price of others on the market with larger inlets/outlets..

That OCC looks really promising, especially this:

...and if you install it in the right place under the hood, it can be a winner.

That's what I think as well...i've asked them to send me the dimensions of the can to see if it'll fit back there where you've got yours

The only thing I don't like about the Stealth Can is that it's not possible to open.
I really want to have the possibility to open it for cleaning and visual checking of the filters.

To get that option you'll have to buy the Ultimate Can for $235...

There's really no filters in there, just mesh screens...i don't think looking inside will ever be valuable...it'd be good but I don't think you'll just ever find anything in there...well, maybe in about 500,000km

Look at the cyclonic chambers in the valve cover you can't peak in there can you?

I think the stealth can should be good enough..

Looks promising so far. I would really like to put the OCC where Big Tom put his. They are somewhat local to me if you need something checked out.

Yes, I know what you mean, but I like opening and exploring stuff.
Maybe I'm just stupid, but that's just how I work.

Another thing that I would miss is a dipstick, which also is included with the Ultimate Can.
Imagine what would happend if that small drain hole got clogged with gunk when you're trying to empty it?
You would think that the can was empty, and that could be VERY dangerous...
I know how mine looked at the bottom after only 300 miles.

Maybe I'm just overreacting...?
Do you think it's possible to order it in a transparant color?

good point but you could always clean it out I'm sure with some brake cleaner..it eats away on oil like there's no tomorrow

i'll ask them about a transparent can..

Glad the CC investigation is continuing. 42 draft might have a big sales uptick soon.

the problem is the seal....they seal under pressure and when you are under zero load they don't leak.....ASR has fixed this by porting the oil outlet in the the turbos...only if you have their turbos though. having secondary cats helps the problem. BMW doesn't sell the seal for the thrust bearings......they only sell it if you buy the turbos. I had the same issue. its a hit or miss from what I have researched.

they will replace them under warranty....bastards! try to find them and you'll see. Just ask the turbo guys like RB and Abid at ASR.
