Cooler = More Power?
I was wondering does anyone know if our cars would make more power if we were able to run a 200deg instead of 240+? If so how hard would it be to adjust the point of where our oil coolers start working?

I think the most impact would be on cooler incoming air...not cooler oil...

typically there's an oil cooler bypass valve, either actuated by temperature or electronically. not sure which is the case of this vehicle.
ultimately, the oil cooler is working at full efficiency when your ambient and oil temp is high. having it kick on at colder temps, you may only see the benefit if you drive at lower ambient temps. to cool the oil down more at high ambient temps, you can only do the following. 1. increase oil cooler capacity and efficiency (larger surface area/better design) 2. increase oil flowrate 3. increase airflow across cooler 4. decrease air in temps |

Again, what would be the HP benefit? As long as you are within the approved operating limits of the engine, as well as within the oil's operating range, there should be no HP benefit to cooling the oil.
You MAY extend the life of the oil, but that's not the benefit we are discussing.

i think the OP had 2 questions.
The first question looked like it was answered from your response. The second question was not. My post was to state what effect changing the oil temperature operating range would do. For high temp applications, not much. if you need verification of your post, then yes, the only benefit is extended oil life and slightly cooler air in temps. |

My car does seem faster at around 200 oil temp. But I have a feeling its just cooler air. Maybe before the palstic air box and tube and intake manifold heat up. Like any other car.....Hence raising the hood at the drag strip inbetween runs to cool down everything. Don't think oil temp has much to do with it. Coolant temp definetly.
Have to keep reminding myself its an oil temp gauge and not a coolant gauge.

Thought about water/alcohol injection? Bigger IC's? Cool the air going into your car, you'll get more horses with that then cooling oil temps.
