Because it only snows in Aspen in the winter, and Aspen is a popular skiing destination. A sport requiring snow, winter is the time to take a ski trip to Aspen. Mexico, on the other hand, is more often an escape from cold winter weather to warm weather, not an escape from warm weather to hot weather.

I'm not at all saying when and where one should vacation, just that the example provided was not a parallel comparison, and, the motives behind the when and where decisions of many vacation-takers.

Very true my friend. Aspen in winter or for ballers. Mexico in the summer is not.
