Fitting winter tyres
Thinking about buying winter tyres before the rush starts but don't want them fitted yet - anyone had problems with getting tyres fitted having bought off the interweb and any idea of cost if done separately?
Thanks |

£10 a corner sounds about right for fitting - only had it done a couple of times without buying the tyres, but no problem IME.

Has anyone any experience in Lassa Snoways Era?
Just looking at blackcircles and in order of price you have Blackcircles budget, then Lassa Snoways Era, then Pirelli Sotto Zero W210 Series 2 theres quite a difference between the Lassa and the Pirelli's and I wondered if its worth the difference in price??

From my experience, I'd recommend thinking longer term than just the next tyre change.
The tyres will last 4+ seasons easily if you use them from e.g. Nov-Apr only. That is alot of fitting/removing if you change onto the same rims. Put them on a cheap set of rims - then: a) its a 30min DIY job to change them each time b) easier to sell on with rims if you change car and need to change size, or just want to sell There was a nice set of OEM 17" M Sport rims in the classifieds the other day - plenty around, but you can spend alot less - my winter tyre M3 E36 motorsport rims (replicas) were only £100 for 4.

I see your point actually but as my current wheels are pretty shite to be honest and boring what I COULD do is stick with these in the winter, buy some 16" winter tyres and use my current wheels as is. In the next year or so when my summer tyres need replacing I want to go: a) non run flat! b) get some bigger and nicer wheels so at that point maybe I can use my current rims as my winter wheels? Sounds like a good plan I think?

By the way I never had a problem getting tyres delivered to my local village garage who would fit a set for £50 all in. This also included stripping a set of wheels and waiting for new tyres and then fitting and installing on the car some weeks later. All easy when you ask.

Yeh I think thats what Ill probably end up doing. Now just need to find the right tyres for the job.
The review site that Will posted obviously shows that the Pirellis are a lot better but at the same time the Lassa Snoways ERA only had 4 reviews so not a lot to go by. There's a difference of about 37 quid per tyre betwen the pirellis and Lassa Snoways and as im on a budget im considering the cheaper tyres...
