How much for csl trunk painted?

I've got an e90 lci frp csl trunk from Sonic tuning over a month ago. I'd say it's about time to get it painted and installed.

Where'd u guys go to get yours done and how much was it? Paint and install or just paint?

I'm in ct so keep that in mind. I've got a couple local quotes but I'm still shopping around.

Thanks in advance guys

typically i've seen anywhere from $400-$500 for paint scheme involving masking off license plate boxes or partial exposure of cf strip over rear lip

Everyone recommends MAC because of their quality in work but they do come with a higher price tag because of that. MAC still might offer a good rate since your a forum member in comparison to the body shops in the area b/c they just don't know you.

I'm not too sure for a simple paint job if you'll need to go traveling 70+ miles to get to MAC just for a trunk painting unless they are cutting you a good deal. It's like going to Emiril to cook you a pasta.... Its freaking pasta.. anyone can do it.

Keep asking around and get quotes.

I took my Full Mtech Body Kit to the below shop and and they did a great job.

Towne Body Shop
1298 Stratford Ave Stratford, CT 06615

No issues with blending the paint or anything. I asked for a price quote and they were gonna gouge me because they didn't realize I was part of the family that goes there consistently for work. Once they realized who I was they brought it down significantly. Its all about who you know.

My price went from $500 per major piece to $300 per major piece on the MTech Kit. Was about $800 in total for Kit. Did the install myself.

If I were you, find a body shop that you trust from recommendations, is stable business (you want them to be around 10-15 yrs from now) and is local. Go there repeatedly for anything you need on paint work. After a while you can get them to drop prices and will help you out on any collisions as well.

Final note... please do some research on installs or just go out to the trunk and see if you can figure out the install yourself. The body kit was probably the toughest install I've had to do on my car so far and even that was accomplished from DIY and analyzing. Don't pay someone to do something like that... if they can do it... you can do it too!!

Edited: MAC, please don't take this as I'm bashing your work. I believe you guys are very good at what you do and have great quality in work. Those new M3's you guys built are insane but everyone believes their cars will fall apart unless they go to MAC and for us CT guys its just not that easy. Just advising a friend.

MAC is 100% worth whatever premium you feel you may be paying. I would never really let anyone else touch my car especially my paint...i've never been less then 100% satisfied with their work, and I'm pretty sure my feeling is universally shared by any one that as had anything done by MAC...

Our shops charge $300-$500 for painting and installation.

Call around, make sure you deal with someone reputable.

Well I will say it was worth the money... Trunk was from **********s, and the fitment was terrible... Also when I walked down to the meet in glen cove this past thursday, i saw a few cars that I know had paint jobs from other "reputable" shops, and looked subpar (aka could tell it was a different color). I won't name names cause I'm not into calling anybody out, nor does anyone actual know me on this forum minus a very few people... Either way, if ur gonna get anything done that requires a paint job, I wouldn't go anywhere but MAC.. The hype is for real!

Derek showed me how terrible your fitment was before they did mine lol.

Yeah, they advertise as OEM fitment and when I tell them it's not they tell me the shop's just trying to screw me over and the fitment is perfect... Perfect? More like a perfect 1.5 cm gap that required alot of extra material.. Either way it came out great... Sorry to thread jack though!

Firstly, I take zero offense to anything you've said. But with that said I'd hardly compare the fitting, painting, and color matching of a major panel like a trunk to the simplicity of cooking pasta.
Quality paint work is a funny thing. Some people could couldn't care less or maybe even notice a poor quality job. Some people are quite happy with their sub par paintwork. Those people are not MAC people. Our customers strive for the same perfection that we do, and that's why they come to us, and expect nothing less.
The forum members who continually rep us here are people who eat, sleep and breath BMWs, and quality is not an option, it is a given.
Thanks for all the love guys!!

PS- Dan, I still f$&king hate you.

I'm freakishly obsessive about my paint, and like i said, i would NEVER consider taking it else where.

you get what you pay for, and remember you would much rather pay a bit more to have it done once, then pay twice to have it done x2
