The BMW CCA Tejas Chapter's event was yesterday; I'd recommend joining that if you haven't already, they do one every month and there's usually a nice long cruise involved, along with interesting stops.

Did you have a route planned or were you looking for recommendations?

Hmm, well their website is www.tejaschapter.org so you may just want to check that out. You might have to RSVP for an event to get on the mailing list, or try just emailing tejaschapter at aol dot com.

I have one long route I drive when I just want to get out and drive -- it's best done early morning on the weekend (leave by 9:30 or so) to avoid traffic because a lot of the roads are only one lane wide so one car can ruin it, but traffic is pretty rare anyway and it's got fantastic scenery and some fabulous twisties. I've posted it to the new BMW Ultimate Drive app (check it out if you have an iPhone, may also be available for Android) and this is actually the route we'll be taking for the Tejas Chapter's November event which I'm coordinating: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...,0.132093&z=14

There's also a drive that goes around the Willow Creek Loop I've put together. It's best done in March or April when the Texas bluebonnets are out but it's beautiful even without them and it too has some great roads and scenery along the way. This route is longer as a round trip and ends in Fredericksburg, which is a fun place to check out anyway: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...,1.056747&z=11
