Question regarding DME update.
Okay I went to the dealer thinking I fall into one of those Recalls but turned out that my VIN isn't in the system for recalls. My SA quote me for around $300(1 1/2) to do an update. And warned me that something might go wrong during the update and I might need to fork out $2000 since I am out of warranty period. He said he has seen couple times that DME did fail during the update.
Is newest DME update worth it? I wanted to do it since this one code is keep popping back up (Raditor Blind) and even with CANclear on catless codes won't go away. So here I am asking, what can possibly go wrong within that 1 1/2 period? Has anyone experience any problems during the DME update? |

Anyone with failed DME update experience? I want to update to newest DME software so PROceed CANclear actually works but don't wanna risk $2000 to replace DME if it's a common problem.

so, the dealer is basically saying that if they screw up, you're shit out of luck and have to pay for their mistake? (whether it be an automated computer issue or not, it is still their mistake)
is this the the update policy at all dealers? |

they told me exactly the same when i asked them to update it (mostly to get ipod connection issue and tranny new software)
My DME is still alive. Is extremely seldom that a DME fries and i guess this happened if they screw it up. Since you are out of warranty and not a recall if something happens it goes out of your pockets.
