SoFlo BMW Instant Messaging
BMW owners from MIA up to Boca Raton, we can start either a BB IM group or a WhatsApp group.
BB (Black Berry): we can post pics, set calendars for events (meets, greets, etc), chat all day every day, etc. But it's limited to use BB owners. WhatsApp: can chat between IPhone, Andriod and BB. I don't use it much, but I don't see an option for pics or calendars either, only chat. I've just sent out a bunch of private messages to anyone who wants to join the BB group that I already created today. If you'd like to join, text me at 954-554-4056. I created a WhatsApp group too, but, I don't use WhatsApp much (you'd have to download it and install on your phone). |

Pingchat is very good. It is cross plat form with android, iPhone and blackberry.
It's almost identical to blackberry BBM but better. I use it to communicate per to per with my managers all over the state. Group chat is awesome, lots of people can join, never had a limit issue |

Well, I'm just creating an idea that is BETTER than forums. Not all of us log into these webpages. Better when it's on phone. WhatsApp can cross across all platforms, but u can't post pictures, set BMW Meets in calendar, only chat. BB has all three so it sperfect for us an better than trying to do it in forums alone. So if anyone WANTS to join, send your BB pin to 9545544056. We have 3 members right now. I've logged in to see if anyone else has sent my a PM with thier code.

BB also has a max member of 30. But, I don't see that being a problem because we only want ppl who have active interest in meets. This way, we are all on the same page and we can let others know if we are at our 30 member cap. ... or we'll start 2 groups. |

You can post GPS location, pics, video, audio clips for everyone to see and hear. Also share contacts. Calendar sharing is not available yet. However, we can centralized a URL public calendar that can be posted in PingChat and the hyper link will take you to either a mobile view calendar. Also in PingChat if you dont want people to know your number then only give then your PingChat ID name instead which can at anytime change. |

Just downloaded another called Beluga. Seems to come highly rated. A plus is that people without the app who are added to the group (or pod) via phone number can reply to the whole group via text.
Honestly, Beluga seems like the absolute best solution to true cross platform compatibility for what the OP is trying to accomplish. Anyone else want to give it a shot? Only thing it's missing is the calendar stuff, but we don't really need that to be honest.

I think the community should vote one the messaging app after trying them.
The App must be cross platform with the following devices:
People should have the option to give out their phone # or user ID to protect one or the other. Calendar is not an issue for any of them as I said a public URL calendar can be made for mobile devices. I am experimenting with Google calendar atm. However to be fair, we should try each one out for a week before making a vote. We should put a list of apps together first. Here are my three app I recommend
I am sure many of us have a facebook, facebook messenger is made by facebook. I dont know if it is available for BB or iPhone so someone need to verify that please. Last edited by BQTuning; 08-30-2011 at 07:36 AM.. |

We want a service that let's us send updates to you guys. Beluga seems to be the best one as of now based on what I've seen but those with blackberry would have to respond via text as it is made for iPhone and android. We all have lives apart from this so we don't want something that's gonna go off every 5 sec bc ppl are chatting on the group. The only time I'd see the chat function work would be during meets events rallies and caravans so everyone is updated in real time
