if your comfortable using castrol then use it, im comfortable using mobil because it has the bmw LL-01 stamp on it.

Mobil 1 0W-40 is of the following builders approval:
MB-Approval 229.3

If you're still under warranty you can just go in and get oil put in.

My dealer does it anyway

not necessarily, unless your car tells you, they won't do anything. like 1 oil change per yer.

they told me if my car tells me i need oil and its not due for a change, they will put a quart of oil in until my next change.

I've had this done a couple of times before my 60k oil change

BMW of manhattan dose not do that , my friend took he's car there ones for that and they told him he needs to buy the oil himself

just bought a case of 5w30 from the dealer

keep one quart in the car for whenever.

These cars chronically burn oil. I keep a quart in my trunk as well.

I havent experience any oil burning..but i think it is prolly b/c i change the oil at 6 month intervals..

OP any LL-01 oil will do.

i'm burning about a 1/4 qt every 3k miles. I change oil at 5k.
