Need Alternative OIL to Fuchs

Gents, my oil service is due and I wanted to go for the Fuchs Titan GT1 but Opie oils said that the Fuchs Titan GT1 5w-30 is now discontinued and have none of it left in stock. What is the next best thing, I remember Tony saying this is the Oil to get but not sure. Dont want to go with Castrol as I didnt think much of it since owning the car. Ta

Funny, I ordered some this weekend from Opie and got the same email I think the Fuchs Titan GT1 C-3 is the replacement product, and I'm sure it's just as good.

You should realy considder this:

Having used Mobil 1's original Supersyn full-synthetic motor oil in a number of vehicles without ever having any major engine problems, I did have some reservations about switching over to Mobil 1's Extended Performance formula- why mess with a good thing? However, after finding Mobil 1's supposedly more advanced Extended Performance formula on sale for less than the original Mobil 1 Supersyn , I decided to give it a shot. I have currently been using this product for approximately 150,000 miles of driving and have used it in two vehicles. Is Mobil 1 Extended Formula better than the original?

About Mobil 1 Extended Performance Formula:

Like the original Supersyn, Mobil 1 Extended Performance is a full synthetic motor oil that can be used in virtually any type of on-road/off-road vehicle (including motorcycles) that call for conventional motor oil. According to Mobil 1, the Extended Performance formula contains 50 percent more Supersyn (Supersyn is Mobil 1's proprietary blend of anti-wear agents) thus extending oil change intervals to 15,000 miles under normal driving conditions. What are normal driving conditions? According to Mobil 1, normal driving conditions exclude racing or commercial applications, frequent towing or hauling, extremely dusty or dirty conditions, and excessive idling.

Mobil 1 Extended Performance meets the following industry approvals:
*ILSAC GF-4
*ACEA A1/A5, B1/B5
*API SM
*Meets the requirements for diesel powered vehicles where an API CF or CD oil is recommended.

Q&A:

Can I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance in a new vehicle? Yes. According to Mobil 1, using this oil in a new vehicle will not affect the so called "break in" period of a vehicle's motor.

Will I need a special oil filter? No. According to Mobil 1, any quality filter will do. However, I use Mobil 1's Extended Performance filter that runs approximately $10 at most automotive retail stores.

Can I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance in an old car with high mileage? According to Mobil 1, their EP blend will not negatively affect older engines or make older seals leak .

Will Mobil 1 Extended Performance void my vehicle's warranty? No. However, you will need to follow your manufacture's suggested oil change intervals if you want to keep your factory warranty.

Is Mobil 1 Extended Performance Guaranteed? Yes. Mobil 1 guarantees its Extended Performance formula will protect your vehicle's critical engine parts from oil related failure for 15,000 miles or 1 year. If not, Mobil 1 will have your vehicle repaired at no cost.

Confused - that looks like Mobil 1 marketing and doesn't mention BMW LL01 or LL04?

Looks like that's an American oil, not one you can buy in the UK. Over here, your Mobil choices for LL04-certified are Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W-30 and Mobil 1 ESP 0W-40.

I'd still sooner be running Fuchs...

Ah, we can get it here in Switzerland, bloody expensive, 54 CHF per litre thats about 30 quid but my dealer reccomends it and I have two free oil changes on the new 320d x drive, so what the hell

I also put it in the 320d M Sport on it's last change ooooo the pain when the bill arrived, the bastards don't let you pay when you pick the car up, they send it in the post.

Probably don't want you having a heart attack in the show room I'm sure Mobil 1 is good oil, but I like Fuchs/Silkolene. I've gone for the C-3, but won't be able to report back until around March...

Both GT1 Flex XTL and GT1 Pro C-3 XTL have BMW LL04 approval, so either would do just fine. I'm unclear from the Fuchs website exactly what the difference between the two is, other than that the C-3 is approved by more manufacturers than the Flex...

Just seen on opie 8 litres GT1 pro flex XTL 5W 30 for £51, I have spoken to Opie and they say it is a brand new oil and fine for my 335d, he also said that it may be priced wrong so I ordered 9 litres quickly
