CIC iDrive Nav map frozen

This just started happening a couple of days ago. As far as I can tell, the other idrive functions work fine, but the map in Nav mode is frozen. I can turn the knob, and the zoom level indicator changes (i.e. 0.25mi, 0.5mi, 1mi) but the map itself is frozen and does not change. I can still get into all the nav menus, for example, to enter a new address to navigate to, but the map stays frozen and the arrow display (right side screen) doesn't display any directions like it normally would. I tried rebooting the CIC by holding down the volume knob for 25 sec. After the reboot, zoom will work again, but as soon as the car starts to move (not even navigating to any address), the map freezes again.

I have a service appointment scheduled for next Tuesday. Just wonder if you guys have any suggestions that could save me a trip to the dealership, which is all the way on the other side of town.
