I'm looking to install the Dinan Intercooler at the end of the month as part of Stage 3, but I also have the M3 Replica Front Bumper installed on my e90. I read the Intercooler would not fit the M-Technic bumper. Would this apply to the M3 Replica as well?

It can be done....my 335is has an M-bumper its going in this Wednesday for Stage 3 tune and for the Dinan IC to be installed. The M-bumper has to be trimmed/fabricated in order for it to fit. Once you get it one then Dinan will alow the stage 3 and warranty.

I will have pics posted up after the Dinan IC is installed.

Dont really know actually...the Dinan dealer said they have done it before.. wont know the detail until Wednesday

Quick question - doesn't Dinan require their oil cooler as well as the FMIC for Stage 3? And will they accept a 3rd-party larger FMIC? I've got Stage 2 and the factory cooler, getting ready to upgrade to an ETS FMIC in a week or two. I'd like to go to Stage 3, but can't justify the cost of the Dinan FMIC (nearly double that of the ETS).

The Dinan OC is not required on the 335is as BMW has corrected its oil temps issue.

The only thing required for Stage 3 software for the 335is is the Dinan IC.

However if you have your own FMIC you can still get stage 3 but you will forfeit/void your Dinan warranty.


I am selling my Dinan OC. It will be posted on eBay tonight start bid at $800. I just picked it up this morning from the dealer

Thanks for the info. Your OC is tempting, but it's more than I'm paying for my FMIC. I've had my car out on the highway in 107 degrees with the oil temp sitting right on 230, so I'm not thinking the OC is really necessary, although I'm sure S3 makes a lot more heat. I'll just have to give it some thought. Does the Dinan OC require removing the front bumper cover to install?

Yes, as the Dinan OC comes with its own air duct. It would be virtually impossible to install it without removing the bumper.

Btw, the purpose of the Dinan OC it to "regulate" oil temp at the BMW set temps per the stock thermostat.

The Dinan OC does not significantly "DROP" oil temps below what the normal driving condition temps would be. If you looking for 10-15 degree drop this is not how it works.

Rain, Shine, Snow, Track, 1/4 runs the Dinan OC again "regulates" the temps significanlty below 250 under extreme conditions.

The Dinan OC also has a back shield exhaust vent so that stones and dirt from the tires do not damage the cooling fins on the OC.

The custom air duct that comes with it redirects the air to also cool the breaks. It also comes with larger hoses. So you getting more than just an OC.

I'll give it some thought. This sounds like how Stett's OC works as well - it carries the thermostat away from where the lines go into the oil filter housing and they provide a lower-temp "remote" thermostat.

Regarding the warranty - I'm on my last year of CPO warranty, and I'm not even sure if Dinan's warranty still applies, although I've only had S2 since April of 2010.
