Driving roads back home ...

Glad to be back home in Scotland for a little while.

Been off roaming the many and varied roads just outside my home town. Mix of brilliant driving roads : B roads to single track, sweeping, undulating and twisting from the coast through the countryside.

Dipping and rising. Sinuous roads with compression dips that eat sumps, off cambers, forest lined, moors and fenns. Patchwork lighting through the clouds. Almost no traffic at all. Did a 40 mile circuit today.

Little view from the moorland : LINK 1.5mb Flash panorama.

You can keep the 'ring. I just don't need it.

Not the best for RFTs, mind. Just need to get a tax disc for the RS and get back out again.

Dave, nice pics went to Uni in Edinburgh and explored many roads in my time up in Scotland. The pic you posted from your house last week, do you live on a golf course?

That last pic looks very familiar. Is it anywhere near Loch Thom? Looks like the turn off to the old largs road.

No, but very, very close.

All south of Ayr, taking in a little of the A77 on the coast, through the verdant rolling farmlands and up onto the moors. All in a few miles. Just magical. Real driving roads no matter what car you are in.

I normally go up the A82 from Glasgow. 2 months back all the way up to Applecross over to Inverness and back in a day! But will need to give the A77 a wee visit especially with clubs in the back of the fast datsun

Loving the panaroma photo too! Nice work!

Next time you do that run I recommend that you find an extra 80-90 minutes and take a return trip on the A830 between Fort William and Mallaig.
