Tail lamp malfunction. help.
I'm having an issue with the my rear tail lamp. All 3 LED tubes blew and my reverse light bulb is out as well. Could it be the board thats causing the issue? I have an 07 e92 with only 34k miles so its really unsual that something like this would happen so soon. I also have Philips 6K D1s's and Lux AE. I highly doubt the aftermarket bulbs is causing the issue knowing that they've been installed for roughly half a year already. One of the LED tubes blew out before, and I showed it to my SA and he said its not covered under warranty and I would have to pay $250 to replace the LED. I have the extended warranty up to 100k. Could it be BS? My salesman told me that I would never have to pay for replacement bulbs. I know of course the aftermarket ones wouldn't be.

I had a brake light out (with no warning indicator), even with new bulbs. The dealer said the LED feature in the lens wasn't working and replaced the complete tail-light assembly under warranty. I also had a brake light that worked (with warning indicator on). The dealer said the bulb holder assembly was bad and replaced the assembly under warranty.
This is just with my current e9x BMW, I won't bore you with tail lamp stories of old, but I could. |

I have the same issue on my 07 e92 335i. It has about 55K miles. Would any of you have a schematic for this. I just want to see if it is a short of some kind. Also is this connected to a fuse or some sort of relay.
Thanks.

Here's the thread I used when I had mine fixed. For some reason, the TSB in post # 14 doesn't show up anymore though.

CHeck the positive and negative from the tail lamp assemlpy and there is a short. I since i can't get in there i need to buy a new tail lamp. Once i get my new tail lamp I am going to dremel the old to see if i could fix it or at least have 2 working LED's as spares.

While your salesman lied to you (I know, that's pretty shocking) brake LEDs should be under your factory warranty but not under the CPO warranty. |

The tail light seems to work whenever it wants to work. I don't know how it fixed itself but it did. It worked for a couple of days, then next thing you know..it doesn't work again. However, it is fine now, although one of my tube led lights is still out. So far it has been functional "knock on wood".
