Motorola Razr - paired but not connected
My Razr paired successfully but cannot connect. It connected once and I was able to dial out but that it is. I cannot re-connect any more after numerous re-pairing and turn off and turn on. Somebody here said that it has to do with the car's software update. I wonder whether those people can get it work now and how? Does the dealer do something? Software reload?
I paired up the same phone with the car kit in my Acura and it works fine. Many thanks. |

I have a client that has the same problem with his E90 that he picked up last week... we had his Razr working when he left, and he has been unable to get it connected since then. Any ideas?

Bluetooth Is Cool, I Think (if it works)
I'm having all sorts of issues with Motorola phones connecting to my 2006 325i, and I'm bummed because this was the coolest feature for me when I decided to buy the car. I had a Moto v551 (Cingular service) that connected ok the first day I had the car, and then got to where it was connecting only about 1 in every 7 or 8 times. So, I got a Moto V3 Razr earlier this week (also Cingular) and it doesn't work either! Uggh. I live in Austin and the guy at BMW of Austin told me today that it "should work because all of us here at the dealership use that phone with no problems." Evidently, several of these peeps are also with Cingular. So, based on TWO phones now with this connection problem, I guess my car needs a software update or some kind of other bluetooth fix? If anyone has any advice, please reply. Thanks.

I've got the V3 Razr and have had no issues with it. I keep it in my pocket and as soon as I enter the car it pairs allowing me to make calls as long as I'm in the car. Make sure you allow the phone to search for the car using the "SETUP" menu and then use "FIND ME" (this is done in the V3 Razr). Once it locates the BMW signal it pairs and as long as you have bluetooth powered (on the phone) it should continue to pair when it senses the cars signal. The only issue I've found is if I want to keep a conversation going as I transition from car to walking I have to walk about 20 feet from the car before it drops the bluetooth and goes into a regular cell phone mode. Which is funny because you can hear the person trying to talk to you from the speakers in the vehicle while your walking away.... you can't talk to them through the phone until it "unpairs".

I have 2 Cingular phones paired to my car.
1. Treo 650 (mine) 2. Motorola V551 (wife) The have the Treo as highest priority, but it would occasionally have difficulty pairing with the car and my wife's phone would pair instead. Recently there was another firmware update through Palm which seems to have solved that problem. Also, the iDrive screen now shows the signal strength for the Treo 650 (previously, it would only show signal strength for the Motorola). There may also be a few bugs with the car's software causing problems. I have noticed that sometimes after ending a call, the stereo will sound very distorted (almost a robotic, digitalized quality to the music). Sometimes changing from CD to Radio and back will correct the problem. Other times, I have to eject the CD and re-insert it to have normal music again. I plan on waiting until there is a significant software update (hopefully mp3 capability with iDrive) and then mentioning this issue to the service department. Michael

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, I have tried all of this and the V3 Razr still will not connect more than occassionally to the car. I am going to ask Cingular about upgrading my phone software to the latest version tomorrow, and will then take the car by BMW to be sure my 325i has the latest bluetooth upgrade. Crossing my fingers that everything will be ok after that...
Happy Holidays to all. Chris |

I have the same problem with my Verizon Motorola E815.
Seems a few people have the same issue (http://e90post.com/forums/showthread...6&page=2&pp=30) and BMW doesn't have an answer yet. |
