( ! ) Tire Pressure Light
So... I had a flat. I bought a bigger size rim, and now I don't know how to reset the tire pressure indicator (or make it go off!). Of course the first place I looked was the manual... however, it only gives me instructions for the BMW with navigation. I do not have that...
How do I reset my tire pressure indicator on my 325xi? |

After filling tires and checking that your pressure is correct front and rear: First time: 1. scroll down until you hit the tire pressure symbol 2. push in the button at the end of the stalk Second time: 1. after the tire symbol comes up from the first push, press the end of the stalk again and hold it for several seconds. A checkmarked box should appear Drive off. Your tires should be reset. I don't have Navi either. Hope that helps!

Sorry, this was for those without navigation. I don't have navi, so I can't help you on that one.

can you explain more....
you had a flat and bought a bigger rim? did you mean tire or did you actually buy one bigger wheel? either way... was it just one or a pair or a set. only reason i ask is because the x models are all wheel drive and if you have stuck one larger wheel on there than the others it could potentially cause some problems. trying to understand better so i can help. |

I have a 2006 330i sedan and this same symbol just appeared on my car. I had a tire with 26 pounds in it. My question is this: I did not think my year car came with the TPMS system, so how does it know the tire is low?

2006 doesnt have real TPMS (with sensors), it uses the ABS and traction control sensors to measure the rotational speed of each wheel.
if one wheel appears to be turning faster than others, the car assumes that tire is low on air and smaller, thus spinning faster. the key to this is calibrating the system with the proper rotational speed thru the menu. Dont let the tire shops charge you for TPMS. They will try. |

OK... I don't have nav. I had a flat, so I bought new rims and tires for my car. I went with a 17" (stock was 16")... anyhow, the ( ! ) light is on. When I go to the menu I only have 3 options...
These were your instructions: You will be pressing the tire pressure indicator 2x: <~~~~Pressing the indicator?? After filling tires and checking that your pressure is correct front and rear: First time: 1. scroll down until you hit the tire pressure symbol <~~~~Scroll down where?? 2. push in the button at the end of the stalk Second time: 1. after the tire symbol comes up from the first push, press the end of the stalk again and hold it for several seconds. A checkmarked box should appear |

assuming you bought 4 new wheels and tires
watch this video. the process may not show the word "resetting" when you hit it the second time, if it doesnt when you hit it a second time an empty box will get a checkmark in it. AFTER THIS DRIVE A COUPLE MILES on a straight road to actually let it calibrate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLA4_ZbZxV4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uI5d6...eature=related remember to set your tire pressure with "cold" tires, meaning first thing in the day before you drive on them more than a few miles. dont set them while warm (after driving more than a few miles). |
