Can key be changed for 2007 323i ???
Hey,
I just got the 2007 323i bmw. I find that the key function is pretty silly as I have to put it in the slot and then press the ignition button. I know for the 335s you simply have to have the key on you as it talks directly to the vehicle. Is there something I can do so that I dont have to continually put my key in the slot prior to pressing the start button? or am I stuck? Thanks for your help! dB |

That is an option you have to get. It cost like $500, it is the option that allows you to open the doors and start the car when the key is on your body or near the car.
It is for pansies, you dont need it, just stick they key in the ignition lol |

Is this option an add-on? If so do you have any idea where I could get it? Does it also allow me to open the doors by rubbing the handle? haha, it isn't that I am a pansy, i would simply prefer to sit in and press start as I'm lazy as a mFer.
thanks for your help. dB |

well when I ordered my car they asked me if I want it at the dealership, I dont know if they can add it in after the fact, and if they can I bet it would cost an extraordinary amount of money... best bet, call bmw and ask!
i was kidding about the pansy thing lol sorry |

You want the Comfort Access option, which is factory-only AFAIK. Installing after the fact, if it's even possible, would be incredibly expensive since it uses hidden antennae placed throughout the car.

I just contacted BMW and they said that they would install it for me for $0.23 and a pack of spicy Doritoes. It is pretty steep, but I thought it was worth it. (They are looking into it for me)

Yeah it's an option on the 3 series. Not even the 335 has it as standard. I remember a Top Gear episode where Richard Hammond says that the only things that are standard on a BMW is the windshield and all the air in the cabin. Pretty funny, but it's not far from the truth. Good luck trying to get a retrofit.

I found out i can get an after-market comfort access install. They just need my first born, my right leg, and the rest of the car save for the front right door. I'm thinking about doing it.
