2006 325i audio upgrade questions.

Just picked up my 06 325i (non idrive) on friday. I currently have a list of wants that i might or might not attempt in the audio front.

Sound is good with the Hifi system....not great. I have been doing a bit of research on the JBL MS8 system. Looks interesting but a little tedious to install. Anyone have experience with this?

Would like to upgrade the under seat subs. This looks pretty straightforward. Just was wondering exactly what the jumpers i have seen in multiple posts on here exactly do. Are they necessary? if so, where to get them. I also know about the plates that JTsherri makes. I am not able to PM yet to ask about the plates but once i am, i plan on ordering a set of those.

Currently i have my ipod hooked up through the audio Aux port under the armrest. I would like to be able to control it from the steering wheel and display the name on the radio. Nearly all the systems i have looked at list e90 but exclude the 2006 325 on their compatibility list. Would even consider taking it to the bmw dealer to have them install it. Only issue is that they are about 3 hours away. Suggestions?

Maybe down the road a bit i would like to add a separate amp to power a sub in the trunk. I think i have that figured out, just need to do a bit more research on where to pull the wires from on that one for turn on and source wires.

My old european spec e36 was so much simpler...RIP

FYI

If you upgrade the fronts and underseats and add an amp you can get pretty awesome sound.

http://www.musicarnw.com/page-2/ for one stop shopping and known working configurations Kits are prewired with all necessary mounting hardware and pretuned to some
degree.

Denison has some compatible ipod/bluetooth interfaces.
the car has to be programmed or have the cd changer enabled for an ipod interface of any kind that will show tunes on the radio and have usb.

Look for most bus compatible interfaces.

The ms-8 is good if you want surround sound but its only 30 watts a channel at 2 ohms
and 18 at 4 ohms.(per channel)
Most end up adding 4 to 6 channel amp with a lot more power and upgrading the fronts
and underseats anyway.

The Technic Harness makes adding and amp pretty easy.
It comes with the musicar kits.

Awesome, I have been through so many threads on here recently trying to figure this out i was about to just say screw it and put it off until later. Just in time to put this on the christmas list. Im still gonna pay for it, its just easier to get the wife's approval if i say its a christmas gift to myself.

There are a lot of DIY examples here

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=540446

some are quite extensive

http://www.bilstereoforum.se/showthread.php?t=2356

go to the diy board here for some.
Look for DIY.s of mirror replacement and ski passes for additional Diss-assembly, assembly
instructions battery install anything that may be in the area you are interested in.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16

also google the BSW stuff on you tube and viemo

With the Hi Fi system everything is pretty straight foward no extra wires to run to the
trunk and speakers connections are straightforward.
