Dying radio display pixels. Need advice!!!

So as the title says my radio display pixels are slowly all dying. I have lost 3 horizontal and 2 vertical rows of pixels. Now I am obviously not going to pay $800 for exact same new radio at the stealer so I need to know what you guys would do if you were in my case. On ebay I saw these guys do pixel repair for around $200+ shipping of the radio or I should just get a decent alpine aftermarket radio for similar price. I personaly would love to keep same radio because I don't like the look of aftermarket stuff especially in a nice car like bmw even though aftermarket radios are far superior to what I currently have. Your input on this issue is really much apriciated. Thank you

if your car is under warranty, the stealership should cover that!

Same problem here. My care is under the extended warranty (CPO, I think) and the delaer said they wouldn't cover it. I was quoted about $900 for replacement. Would be interested to hear thoughts on this...

Cold weather has an affect...

This morning, after the night temperature dropped to the 40's, I noticed that my pixels were bright again. I haven't taken the car on an extended drive to see if they will diminish as the car warms up but I found this very odd.

Thoughts?

UPDATE: I took the car out for a longer drive and as soon as the unit warmed up, the pixels started to fade. It got worse as the unit got warmer.

I had the same issue when I purchased my 2006 325i (CPO). I mentioned it when I took delivery and then brought it down to service this week. It is currently being replaced as a courtesy by the dealership with no charge to me.

They made it fairly clear to me that it wasn't covered under the CPO but were doing it as a courtesy, so maybe you can get them to do the same for you too.
