Sony w810 odd behavior with bluetooth
Anyone else using this phone successfully? For some reason when i try to call someone while the radio is on using the car's phone controls, sometimes the call goes through and doesn't shut the radio off..and the 'end call' option goes away. The end result is I can't hang up unless I end the call on my cell phone manually and my friends get to listen to my music...they can hear me but i can't hear them. I'd say this happens 50% of the time. Now I just initiate calls with my cell phone controls.
Yes I know the phone isn't on the approved list. |

Phone exhibits several incompatible traits. Hence, it's not compatible. Try a different mobile phone.

Yeah I just ran the Sony application updater and reloaded the phone's software..I also had some duplicate entires in my phone book for some reason so i deleted those. I had pictures set for each of my contacts so i removed those too. They seemed to cause a delay when calling people so maybe that tripped up blue tooth. I'll also try repairing the phone like you said. Hopefully one of these will do the trick since I really don't want to spend another 300 bucks on a phone. Thanks!

Trying a different phone is the definitive way to ensure that a problem is with the phone, not the car. Is that funny?

Sorry but your post just sounded like "It's incompatible dummy" even though I stated I knew it wasn't on the list. It's not the car, my razr v3 worked fine on it.

i have an unlocked W810 as well and i used to have your problems. What happened was when i called someone through the car, it would route to my phone instead, leaving the music on, and people could barely hear me beacuse id have to talk into the phone, not thru the car's mic.
however, now the problem just disappeared and works fine. i didn't change anything. so it might just be a probability sorta thing or somehow it fixed itself (maybe by me pairing/unpairing so many times and turning the phone off/on) |

But it did as I mentioned test incompatible in the version I had. Other versions (i.e. sw versions) of the phone may resolve the problem and what you described is not inconsistent with incompatibility.

Yeah, Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. Seems that 95% of the "Unsupported" phones out there work well with BMWs Bluetooth, though missing some little bits of functionality.
My Samsung M900 works great for calls so I am happy, even though most of advanced functions are not supported at all. For instance if I am in the middle of a call I don't dare start the car as the Blue Tooth will steam roller my call. Folks can hear me, I cannot hear anything. Sucks though having a new phone that just doesn't work. Might just have to trade it out with something different.

see thats the thing, though the W810 is unsupported, it works about 80% of the time for me with all the functions such as my addy book. the phone is great and if i were you, id keep trying, maybe turning the phone off/on, uploading it with the newest software or try pairing it again. its not worth it to get a new phone. most of the time, it should work as it is in my case.

Isn't BT supposed to be a standardized interface? Any idea why so few phones are on the compatibility list for this car?

Ja, indeed. But that is theoretical.

BMW is head and shoulders in compatibility against any other car I've tested recently, incl. Jaguar, Lexus (really awful), Volvo (no BT), Audi, just to name a few. My test results should be online within 2 weeks and that includes results for 25 phones. More phones will be added as they become available.

I use the 810 also and it works well...the only issue I've had is not all my phone book shows up on the alphabet display. I rebooted the phone, deleted it from my car and resynced. I have not had a problem with making or ending calls. One thing too, is the phone itself has software updates you can search for on your handset to be sure it is up to date.
My dealer said the phone list from BMW was crap and never up to date. |
