The new iDrive and google maps

Hi all,

Well I got my new car on my brithday as some of you know, and I am trying to figure out something on the iDrive.

I looked in my manual and I did not find anything on this.

I know you can send a google route map to the car and load it to the iDrive, but I can't seem to find out how to do it.

I know something is in my iDrive because I see an envelope on my screen but I can't figure out how to access it.

I have the 2011 335is for those of you that don't know what I got on my birthday.

**EDIT** I found it, it was under myInfo. My bad.

you'll need BMW Assist for that..

Once you send a map from Google to your BMW...

then it'll show up in the BMW Assist menu as a new message..
OPen up the message, and you can use the navi to get to the place

1) Go to http://maps.google.com/
2) key in destination
3) Select "Send" upper right hand corner
4) Under "Send to" - Select 'Car'
5) Under "Make" - Select 'BMW'
6) Type in your email address when you registered under BMW Assist, if you haven't, do so right away
7) Afer completion of information, "Send"

In the car, simply open up your Office Connect and you should see your email sent from Google Map. Select and the destination is up and running

Its annoying that you have to go through .com and can't use .ca

You have the use http://maps.google.com to send the address to your car since http://maps.google.ca doesnt have the "send" option.

despite my BMW assist expiring, the send maps function still works, I thought I read something on the forums about losing this when BMW Assist expires.

That would really sucked if the Google maps didn't work anymore esp I don't feel like paying for BMW assist.

Worked for me also but only for a month or two. Tried recently and no go. Must just take a while for the cell provider to terminate the data plan for the integrated radio.
