Protect and Seal - Questionable Value
I collected my E92 335i on Friday and planned to give it a quick wax just to finish it off.
Most of the car was fine, ie smooth surface, but the bonnet and front wings felt really coarse when running a finger over the paint surface. Given that protect and seal is supposed to remove embedded dirt prior to the seal treatment I really wonder whether the dealer did anything at all. I had to resort to elbow grease with a polish to remove the impurities that looked like lots of tiny orange flecks, just about the size of small tar spots. The surface of the polishing cloth was stained lightly orange by whatever the substance was - strange. Eventually got to the stage where I was happy to apply wax an now got the finish I thought I paid for - wouldn't recommend it to anyone considering getting the £299 treatment. Anyway - love the car - the colour is amazing, dark blue to light blue and everything in between. pic attached - before my detailing frenzy |

I decided not to go for this option as someone I know (I won't name him) works for AutoGlym and said he can get me most of the stuff for AutoGlym Lifeshine (which is what they used before Protect & Seal) He told me that if I bought the cloths from Ebay he could get me some left over polish/wax/etc, so I checked Ebay and found a whole AutoGlym Life shine kit and won it for £8!
I'll wack it on and upload some pics when it's done - this may be a cheaper alternative, not too sure of the outcome as yet though

Interestingly, my "about to be new car" is being detailed as I post (see other thread) and the chap doing it has commented that the bonnet and front wings were a bit dull whilst rest of car was fine.......wonder why this is.....

This is unusual becoz when i give my car its first wash and a coat of polish, the bonnet did not have that same smooth polished feel afterwards - The polishing cloth did not just flow over it like it did on the rest of the panels????
The bonnet looks fine but just has more resistance to its surface. Very strange!!!

Comment from my "detailer" was that prior to treatment, the car was prepped very well - best he's seen from a dealer. However, talking to the guys there, he reckons the materials used for the P&S treatment are nothing special at all......
