318i satnav
Hi I have just got a 59 plate 318i with business sat nav! There is one cd drive and when I take the sat nav cd out and play a music cd the sat nav will not work.
Is there anyway for me to have a music cd and sat nav at the same time? If there is how? |

That sounds rubbish. Surely BMW wouldnt design something so stupid.

It's a similar system to my wife's 09 Touran by the sounds of it ie nav no CD, CD no nav. Is there not a USB or card reader somewhere on these that you can copy the contents of the nav disk to?

I heard the business system was meant to be pretty poor but that's unbelieveable! Even the old E46 system was better than that!

Actually, the 59 plate should have the later business nav with 2 drives.
You sure it is a facelift 318i and not an old pre facelift that has sat for a year before being registered?? |

That would be my answer - but maybe the changer is an optional extra?

It 100% the facelift model. I only have one cd drive. It is madness if this is the case and i cannot do anything about it. Even in my old BMW which was 57 plate there was once cd drive however the Sat Nav would work without the cd.

Have you tried going into the Nav and inputting a journey, then while underway removing the nav disc and trying a CD?

Yeah it wont show the map only the arrows. I have spoke to BMW and apparently there was a gap where the didn't put two cd drives in or a hard drive. So basically stupid bit of engineering from BMW!!!!!!!
