Anyone driven a 635d back to back with an E92?

Despite constant barrage of problems, I can't help but want a 635D, and the purchase of which has been significantly brought forward by my cars ill health.

I haven't had chance to drive one yet (70 hour weeks does that to you), so just wondered if anyone here has spanked the bitch, Queef style.

Cant help on the 635d, but having owned a 335d, and currently having an M6, I can comment on interior space, size, etc etc.

I'd say the 6 series doesnt feel as large as you might expect. The boot is enourmous, and the cabin has a bit more presence about it.

It hustles along an handles amazingly for its size (as it should for an M).

I like the fact you see far fewer 6's than 3's too.

What sort of budget/age are you looking at?

Mid to late 20's, and I want an AUC warranty, so its dealer only. There are loads of 640/5/50s about at that price, presumably because a petrol engine that size has no place in britain nowadays. I also suspect a 630 will just feel limp after the 35d.

Be handly if the boot was bigger than the E92, since I've got a brat and invariably. as he gets older, he's going to fill it with crap.

Sounds like you've taken to fatherhood like a duck to water.

What sort of miles do you do - a petrol (cheaper to buy) may not be as bad a proposition as you think?

The 6 boot is mahoovise - we took 7 cases of wine and 2 suitcases to a wedding recently in the M6.

I had a look at the 6 as a next car but couldn't help thinking the rear seats weren't any more spacious for 2 kids, perhaps even less room.

Yep Personally drive a 2008 335d E92, fully loaded inc ind' Audio, drive a 2010 635d a lot through work! around 4k this last 18 months, really like the 6, feels a lot quicker than the E92, though the Logic 7 not as good as the ind' Audio, the ride is not so harsh and feels generally more comfy, soft close doors are cool, but it does not have comfort access which in my opion is a must, i like the look of the new 6 the 'vert looks much better than the coupe, hope this helps

I did but about a week apart, if that counts? I assume you mean the previous 635d and not the latest? Ride was superb even though the car was on 20" rims. A little bit heavy, but you don't feel the need to chuck it around, it made me want to waft around.

Auto gearbox was very smooth and the interior cabin noise was next to nothing.

The biggest put off for me was the dated feel to the cabin, with no digital/dual zone readout on the climate control. The older idrive and Nav (hear we go again) and the massive door mirrors. But as they're getting much cheaper, I think they could be a whole lot of quality BMW for the money.

I think the last ones (from 09) had the newer idrive. Just look out for the smaller idrive controller with shortcut buttons.

I think you're right Ed, although very late 09 possibly 2010. the 635d is still expensive on a 10 plate though.

I have an E60 with the newer iDrive controller but old nav strangely so there must have been an overlap with the roll out - having the controller does not necessarily mean the nav is updated too.

Do about 15k a year, would benearer 20 but I have an MGF that I like to use at weekends / in summer. Big boot would be good for inevitable kids bikes / buggies / trunkies etc etc

I wouldnt complain at that, I don't overly have a problem with 19" RFT's, but it can be jarring around cambridge city.

Out of your whole post thats all I heard. I has an X1 as a loan car a few weeks ago and I hated the mirrors, they looked like they were off a van!
