335d remapping choices...

Hi all,

I know this is covered vastly on here but I have a couple of questions about two remapping companies. My local garage offers remaps by Autologic and Elite Remps.

I know about Autologic etc but not heard anything about elite remaps, has anyone got any info on them? Looking at their site they are only claiming 316bhp from the 335 which seems a bit low??

The Elite remap is £250 whereas the Autologic is £425. I know other companies are around but this garage is a BMW Master Tech and only a few miles from my house should there be a problem.

Any advice on autologic/elite remaps appreciated!

Autologic is a franchise. I'd imagine you are talking to an individual mapper rather than the company, in which case any advice steering you in that direction might be skewed.

That said, BW chiptune in hounslow use autologic and are absolutely superb. If there was any chance of coming down this way then I'd highly recommend them (Plus, I could have a look at the car )

I'd still be tempted to say go for autologic dealer though, even one not personally recommended to me. As their kit is superb and in the right hands is very very good.

As a matter of course i'd find out what kind of map both are offering. Off the shelf or tailored? Autologic they'll usually tweek the map to your specific car and often use a dyno. At the price for the elite company as you've quoted I very much doubt you'll get any kind of comeback to tweek the map, or for that matter comeback if anything goes wrong?

What Mega said - you get what you pay for. Not worth taking the chance with something so fundamental to the car. Personally, I'd go for the Evolve handheld thingummy, you get the map recommended by so many people on here, and the convenience of doing it on your driveway

Not heard of Elite, but the claims on the website are very much on the conservative side - 313bhp and 465lb torque, where the norm is around 345/50ish bhp and in excess of 500lb torque.

What claims are being made for the Autologic remap?

Personally I'd contact Simon @ E-Maps and see if/when he's doing a group remap nearby,if you go on BMWland you'll see that not many people go anywhere else.

cheers for the replies, I am leaning towards Autologic as 1, the guy doing it is a BMW Mastertech and said he would update the car first to the latest software before doing anything, then would lift the map from my car and send to autologic for a map and tweak to my car followed by dyno runs to fine tune. He said they do the elite ones for the 'cheaper' end of the market who want to tune but without the level of tuning brought by the autologic guys.

I am speaking to him again tomorrow as he will have had all the info back from autologic as to the gains expected.

The car will be going soon so thought i would get it mapped and enjoy it before she goes

Had my 320d mapped to 221bhp at e-maps. It's a great service and a great price, definitely worth the trip.

You get the full dyno which will highlight any power issue with your engine. Something which the evolve switch doesn't include.
