Not that I would do this but that play in the flywheel is likely due to a bearing right?
think its possible to press out the bad bearing and replace it?

The 1M flywheel is bolted with 6 bolts and the 335i flywheel is bolted with 8 bolts...
What is the flywheel bolted to ? Directly to the crankshaft ? Wouldn't it be possible to change that part that holds the flywheel ?

There was also some difference between the bearings.

...so a brand new 335i flywheel is on it's way to my shop as we speak.
Apparently there may be some difference between model years with the flywheels, so the 1M flywheel should fit some models. Aside from looking at the flywheel itself, I don't know you would be able to tell though. If you check out this thread the OP is doing an N54 to N54 motor swap and ran into the 2 different flywheels (one being 6 bolt the other being 8 bolt):

Yes, the 1M flywheel could maybe fit on a newer engine...
But one thing is for sure; it won't fit on a September 2006 built engine.

I noticed that at realoem the flywheel part number changes from 01/09 on. It may be that cars fabricated after January 2009 can use the 1M flywheel. I am out of luck though...
