Car got backed into in parking lot overnight

So the inevitable happened...after parking on a college campus for 4 years someone finally managed to mess up my car. All the corner and curb spots were taken so I was forced to park in between two cars.

This morning i walked up to the car and saw a Note under my windshield and figured one of my friends is messin' with me or something. Note said that they "bumped" into my car last night and upon seeing the damage this morning during the day they thought I should have their phone number. And that's all I have..a phone number that no one is picking up and a messed up fender/door -_- BTW the note had the girliest handwriting..women drivers

I called the university police and filed a report just to have some documentation. will keep trying to call the person who hit me though...

Here's a pic...I took a video on my Flip and took a snapshot of it, I don't have a camera handy on campus.

Thoughts on the best way to approach the situation?

Pd can trace the phone number...I would leave a friendly voicemail too...if no luck then...

Pay your deductible and get a good body shop to make it look unnoticeable.

Thanks for the replies guys! Rutgers University Police is considered State Police so won't make a difference if I called the city police. Luckily, the girl's dad called me back and gave me his insurance info so as of now things are looking up...considering myself SUPER LUCKY right now and props to them for leaving a legit note

Thats what you get for parking next to the "building of alcohol studies" hahah i love NB. GL with that, if her dad called you, I am sure he will take care of it. Now if you were real smart you would in addition to gettting your car fixed, get a date with her.

Haha! no joke after I hung up the phone with him that was my first thought...although for all I know she could be ugly so it's a risky play

The risk is the fun part. Make sure you get your car fixed first before you take her out. If shes a beater, you can bail. Meet her with friends at the Olive Branch, easy and no pressure.

Get the quality of the paint left on your car tested to see what car she drives. If something good or luxurious comes out, go for it, if ugly run.

Damn that sucks!
These doorshox probably wouldn't have saved you but thought I'd post this for people looking for some added protection from door dings. Works great for me and most importantly peace of mind.

In my case I live at an apt complex with very tight parking spaces. 1st wk I got the car my neighbor put a decent size chip on the door reason why I got this. No problems since.
But hey maybe you prefer the look of dents and chips on the side of your car. In that case you maybe the one suffering from hypogeusia.

I would pay weekly to have the body work done then have those on my car.
