Not having a great start to my 335D owbership
I bought my car approx 3 months back and the first 2 months have been going ok just getting used to the power delivery/handling/rwd etc
Then my turbo boost pipe seals decided to give up the ghost and started misting fine spray of oil onto the undertray resulting in me slightly losing performance (I noticed it was not as the day I got it) and my mpg dropped 26/27mpg, whereas I was getting 35mpg around town. No problems, off I went down to my local BMW specialist, they replaced the seals/pipe for me. Back to normal with a grin on my face every time I drove the car This Monday gone driving home from work on a busy dual carriageway in the right hand lane, a woman driver swings out of a side road as I am going past and went straight into the rear quarter panel. To top it off she didn’t even bother to stop but I got the reg and its going through the motions. Not a big accident but none the less has annoyed me. Can anyone say how much this is likely to cost? ![]() ![]() ![]() This morning driving into work (those of you know Birmingham) approach fiveways (busiest roundabout ever lol) roundabout went out to pull out, foot down and the car is very slow to move off. Its like there is no power, feels like I am driving a micra. So I thought it might just be a hiccup but on the way back I floor it and the car feels lerthagic (no error signs/limp mode). I put my foot down it slowly creeps up to 40mph, I don’t get that pinned to the back of the seat feeling – I don’t know what it can be? Any ideas? So Im going to take it to the specialist tomorrow and hopefully it wont be an expensive job Apologies for long post and thanks for reading |

Jeezo! that's some bad luck there
![]() is it auto or manual? (auto kick-down working ok?) should still pull well in any gear being a 335d! Sounds like it could be a hose off (no or little boost) would run rich but you won't see through the exhuast as the DPF will catch the soot but should throw up the EML i'd have thought. get it into the stealer. I hope your luck changes!

no idea with regard to which pipe can be loose, i did take the engine cover off last week and one of the vacuum hoses started to fray so could be that but i have no idea
kick down is working (its an auto), plant foot to floor and can feel it dropping down a gear, revs rising but very slowly. no engine management light coming on but i have noticed that the traction control light keeps coming on when pulling off a bit quick whereas before it didnt? acerboo - do you mean 1k for the bodywork repair or the engine problem? |

Ouch!
I take it your car is out of warranty? How old is it, and how many miles has it done? If it is out of warranty,it might be worth getting the problem diagnosed (sounds turbo related, but not necessarily THE turbo) by your Indi, and if it's majorly expensive take the car to a dealer and see if there prepared to do anything as a goodwill gesture, if not, back to the Indi.

i have the same problem i think. its like only the small turbo works?
i think its the actuator - the waste gate is stuck. i have been quoted over 650 for a fix. |

Welcome to my club
![]() I think every used 335d should come with a free set of boost hoses, because they do, categorically, suck ass. I managed to bust the large feed, so it was responsive but didn't produce more than 80bhp, and then I bust the small one, which just gave me 20 seconds of turbo lag........ |

Sorry to hear about your woes, I can truthfully say I know how you feel. My last 335d ownership was riddled with misfortune. I had a stone the size of a small boulder dent the bonnet in a bad way, then a week or so later a cyclist who was drafting behind me down a steep bank ploughed into the boot (it was a single lane road and another car was coming in the opposite direction). I braked as gently and as late as possible but his tri bars left two prominent dents in the boot lid together with a knackered diffuser. His face slithered down the rear window, cartoon style. He was OK but bike written off (I did the honorable thing and drove him home and he very kindly paid for the repairs). £300 cash for bootlid respray with dents taken out, bonnet respray (he didn't pay for that) and new rear diffuser. He said he was used to motorcycle brakes and his bike disc brakes weren't in the same league!
I then had a significant power loss when that was fixed, which turned out to be a sensor, fixed under warranty but about three hundred pounds if what I was led to believe was true. When I got the car fixed I got rid, but missed it so much I now have another. Stick with it, I'm sure it'll appeal again when you get things fixed. I would've thought you could get a repair done far cheaper than £1000, that is what a BMW Bodyshop would charge, but an independent place could probably do it for less than half, though without loaner car etc. |

Little bit of an update re issue 3
I took it to my local bmw specialist, he plugged in a diag and it came up with an acctuator fault. he said it can be be siezed and may be able to get it to work or just put in a new or used one in but doesnt know until he checks it out how much is the part from bmw? is there one for the big turbo and one for the small turbo? (if anyone has the part num for it that would be great) |
