BMW Warranty Problems
Hi All
Booked the car in for warranty work and its first MOT and so still have the three year manufacturers warranty in place and it's been a nightmare First off booked in for today the 14th but as I knew i needed a software update I did say if they wanted the car on the 13th to give them more time to do the update they said no? got a call yesterday 2.00pm to say can I drop the car off as they need more time to do the update so had to take time out of my day to drop the car off and no courtesy car. Today it got better got a call this morning to say if I could came in as the warranty work I wanted done is wear and tear 9000 miles on the car Warranty work 1) steeringwheel volume control the lacker has peeled which they replaced 12 moths ago wear and tear 2) steeringwheel bottom of the wheel matt finish is flaking which they did say the would replace 3) Radio dosent stay on my saved stations on fm I have to click the saved staions every time I start the car no fault 4) Nav can take upto 2 mins to restart in you stop on a journey no fault 5) and the best one the bolster on the drivers seat is wearing you can see a slight hint of white I have black leathers and the white stitching is fading wear and tear they wanted 600 up front and the will then get BMW to inspect the leather and tell me if its a manufaturing fault to get my money back what do you guys Think? after spending 4 hours there 1) after much arguing they have agreed to replace the volume controls 2) done 3) I had too say it was the AM stations ( no faults for FM) that were not saving to get the software update? they said they were doing me a favor didnlt feel like it 4) 3 should fix 4 I hope 5) They told me it's my jeans that's causing the damage to the bolster told them the should warn customers that wearing jeans can damage your BMW long story short BMW UK will now came out to inspect the leather and tell me if its a manufaturing fault No car until monday now |

As much as i don't like having a go at people, it really seems as though to get anywhere with anyone in the motoring trade (or any other trade at that) you need to start kicking off, which is a shame really.
Having said that, i suspect this dealership is just a bit of a bad apple, as i've heard other people say that they have been utterly satisfied with warranty repairs from other dealers. Bottom line: If this dealer is making life hard for you - take yourself, and your money, somewhere else and let them know that due to their poor service, you won't be returning. |

Good luck, sounds like a nightmare! I'm afraid the leather bolster issue is very common and very rarely dealt with under warranty. Best bet would be to buy a leather repair kit, or use a bit of leather shoe shine!

Hi dxb335d
Yes and not forgetting the bolster wear I did go across the road to sale dept they had a 2007 car with 40,000 miles with less wear. I bought the car when it was 6 months old from scotthall watford with 6,800 miles I done less than 2500 miles is they last 2 years |

Hi All,
Spoke to BMW UK about my problems yesterday and they ask me if I would take the car to another dealer for a second opinion. I explained that sytner chigwell would be the second nearest dealer to me, BMW UK said they are independent and that should be ok. So booked the car in for the 14th Nov, got a call at 5pm from the service manger resfusing to see the car. Anybody else have this happen to Them |
