Still searching for a 1m

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
I have been desperately searching for a 1m for weeks. I have called every single dealer on every single website I can find every morning and every time there is any update. I am looking for AW (preferably w/ minimal options but could go either way at this point) , if anyone on here has any inside leads I BEG that you please send me a personal message to give me the heads up. I want this car more than anyone knows. desperation is a stinky cologne and I reek of it Thanks in advance to any advice or help!

I know where you are coming from, but take some time and let the cars show up, fill the pipeline (a bit) and go from there.
If that's what you want, that's what you'll get, but be patient.
My concern is that calling every dealer every morning is the equivelent to unzipping your fly, so to speak.
That's the same as saying "Please, please, please tack on an extra $10,000 to the price.... I'll pay it, gladly"
As I'm sure we all know, when new cars come out the demand is comical and there are always the "I gotta be the first on my block with the new __________" and those people usually pay twice the price; From $120,000 M5s, to $80,000 Prowlers and $100,000 SSRs.
Good luck with the search..... just trying to be helpful!
By the way, while at a local KIA/Honda store getting a new Forte Koup for a (now ex) employee a few weeks ago, I saw a black 1M. Not for sale- had Florida tags and was horribly dirty but looked very sweet. Looked like a wholesaler or something was driving the car, but that's just speculation.

Roger that, I appreciate that advice, I am doing my best not to seem overly excited or eager when speaking to the dealers, but if i dont make the calls and ask the questions Ill never know. I am starting to agree that it may be best just to wait. I wont jump on the hysterical bandwagon and pay over msrp for a used car, especially 15-20k. Call me what you will but it just goes against my set of ethics, more power to someone else who wants to but I just don't have that type of money at this point in my life. So i probably will wait and let the hype die down but in the mean time the search continues for the one that got away....

Every single one of those are spoken for or 15-20k over msrp, as well as all the other comparative websites. Dealerships automatically list cars when they come in even when they have been pre-sold and it takes them quite a while to go through the process of realizing it and taking them down unfortunately...

While I was at South Motors BMW in Miami, they had a 1M in the showroom for sale. I saw this yesterday so it might still be there.

With the demand the way it is right now, I don't think you're going to have much luck finding it a lot cheaper than that anywhere unfortunately. Wait a year until the demand dies down a bit and just keep looking in the meantime.

Good luck with the hunt.

The main problem is that it's going to be a very limited car, it's the "it" car right now from BMW and you're going to have to pay if you want to play.

If you can find a dealership who's an enthusiast, then you might be able to get it for MSRP.
I purchased a Z06 back in 2006 when they first came out. Dealers were marking them up from $5K - 15K over MSRP.
My local dealership was really into Corvettes and just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to turnaround and sell it for a profit and that I wanted to drive and enjoy it.
I got it for MSRP and was very pleased with the deal.

The 1M unfortunately is an entirely different animal being limited production.

I have seen one on the road already. They look great!

If your looking for performance, my ///M Coupe was very competitive on the track against the 1M. The ///M Coupes are also limited to 1815 production units (USA) and the majority of people that have one claim to never let it go unless they have to. The car get's lots of attention wherever you go. You can still find a decent low mileage 2006-2008 model for around $30K-35K, some are available as a CPO or are on their last year of factory warranty. It's S54-engine is praised for its simplicity, reliability, and power! Great, great, great car!
