Godspeed intercooler help

I just bought the godspeed V-mount intercooler; just arrived and looks good but its heavier than i thought it would be(anyone know how much the stock one weighs?). Does anyone who has installed know where exactly i should have the tabs welded on? Figured I'd try this way before having to disassemble my car twice.

Thanks!

Stock FMIC is pretty lightweight, it has plastic end tanks on it. I can't image it weighs more than 10-12 lbs. Its been a couple of months since I have handled it but I remember being surprised how light it was.

I have a Helix FMIC its pretty heavy. I would say 25-30lbs, but that's just a guess.

I think you're going to have to mock it up and sharpie on the desired L bracket locations then get them put on. Not sure if there is anyway around that. Kind of what you have to deal with I guess doing the DIY route.

Yeah that's the plan. Just wondering if someone who has down it before remembered where they were welded on at.

I don't remember how far down the tabs where welded. However, I would advise you do the following:

- Cut the shroud very high. The IC is very tall and you will need room to button the undercarriage. So you will need for the IC to sit as high as possible.

- Get some large zip ties from homedepot. I think they are about 42-48 inches. You'll need them to attach the IC to the bumper reinforcement so that you can accurately sharpie the L brackets.

- don't worry about trying to purchase L brackets. Any welder has them in stock or can make them easily from scrap aluminum.

- my brackets were 2.25" in length. I had the welder make a 3/8" hole at about the 1.7"-2.05" are on the bracket. The IC needs to sit back on the radiator as far as possible for the undercarriage to fit.

- I used a cobalt drill bit to cut a 3/8" hole in the bumper support. It took about 5 minutes to drill.

I have a CXRacing FMIC, but i think they sell it to Godspeed as the same product. If it is the same, then it should do you good.
