LCI Tail Lights Retrofit Wiring - HELP! - Dim LED Turn Signals

I have a question regarding LCI Tailights. I had them retrofitted by a local vendor who said he just rewired the existing pins, didn't add any new wiring /resistors or anything.

I know there are a lot of people selling harnesses. I am not sure if this is just marketing or if it is necessary.

I wonder because every few months one of my tail light signal LED grows dim and I have to replace the tail light.

I am wondering if there is a voltage issue?
  1. Do I just have bad luck with tail lights?
  2. Need to buy a harness?
  3. Coding to adjust voltage output?

Thanks. Just want more info before I spend another £75 or so on a Euro-Spec LCI Tail Light
