Yes, is a piggyback tune which basically over-rides the Dinan tune to just have the Jb4. But upon removing Jb4 still have dinan.

did you check with BMS before doing so? and did you ever logged to see how boost you were running and if timing was ok?
You cannot just stack jb4 on top of a flash. You can run some kind of custom map but i dont think is a very good idea running map 2 on top of Dinan with Dps only .

I don't think it "overrides" the Dinan at all. If I put a piggy on top of my giac it would def. Cause problems unless I used the map that bms designed to have stacked on a flash. The jb4 has a special map that can be used when stacking it on top of a flash but if you u aren't using that map then I wouldn't have it installed. You should talk to bms to ask them which map to run when you stack it on top of a Dinan.

Something is definitely unusual in your case. I have been boosting way higher than your map #2 would normally, hundreds of qtr mile runs, etc. No blue smoke or excessive oil consumption ever. Definitely check with BMS on the compatibility of the flash and JB4. I mean I was accidentally running 20psi on map #6, since I didn't know the meth additive applied to that map, and still no problems, so perhaps your car was on the verge of failure to begin with, and the higher boost finally caused something to fail.

Enrita is right, you cannot assume you can stack the JB4 on top of the Dinan flash software. If I were you I would have the Dinan software removed and run just the JB4 if you are looking for more power OR upgrade to a higher stage of Dinan software/mods.

I've never heard of any tune causing irregular oil consumption. Remember, these N54 motors push/burn/evaporate oil unlike most factory motors.

my friend's 07 n54 has alomost the same problem too. but he has jb4 only. he got oil burning, alot of white smoke comes from exhaust, boost leak(max is only 7psi), half engine light on, misfire...etc. issues. now he doesn't know how to do either

has scheduled to go to shop next Monday

But did they specifically say the JB4?

I know they have stacked the JB+ (plus) on top of the GAIC and the Dinan to bring up the boost 2lbs, but JB+ is a much different (simplier)tune than the JB4.

I have not seen them stack the JB4 with a flash tune. Not saying it hasn't happened.

Running the JB4 on top of a flash isn't a problem. If you have smoke its likely coming from the turbos as the higher boost levels work them harder at higher RPM. Map 2 runs around 14psi tapering to 11psi at redline so its not an aggressive boost curve but more aggressive than the Dinan.

Make sure you set the fuel settings all To zero When using jb4 with a flash. Maybe it's just way too rich. A log would help.

Stacking can cause lots of issues..How many miles on your car?

I am also running JB4 with their meth kit stacked on top of Dinan Stage 2 (also have CAI, FMIC, and AR catted DPs). On another forum, Terry mentioned that the stack, while ok, was not "ideal". Asked for further explanation, but never got one. Reason I asked is because I am more than willing to remove the Dinan flash if it will make my setup "safer".

So, couple things:

1. Can you comment on why the stack is not "ideal"?
2. Would you recommend removal of the Dinan flash?
3. Might be helpful if BMS had a sticky with any specifics about stacking. For example, I did not realize that "all fuels settings should be set to zero" like you state above.

Thanks for all the help you and Terry have provided. Always very quick in responding to emails, etc. Great customer support overall.

07' E92 with downpipes, DCI, Catless Exhaust and Dinan Stage 1 with 64k miles. Have enjoyed the car and recently wanted more power and installed the Jb4.

You guys don't know how much beating your cars took in previous life, so who knows if that is affecting what it can handle? I would be careful pushing it. Extra juice means nothing if your engine is already weakened to the point it wont handle any extra when you consider you might windup breaking it.
